It's not actually a rumor, just Eddie Hearn wishing out loud what he hopes will happen. So Kell doesn't have to fight a live opponent who might actually beat him, sorry British peeps but beating Matthew Hatton doesn't mean ****. That's like saying a win over Larry Mosley is just as big as a win over Shane, because they are related. Hatton is shot to ****, and has been since he fought and was wrecked by Alvarez, that is not even a decent win, but more of a decent win by way of name association.
You know, Brook can have fans outside of Britain. He's a solid up and coming boxer and if Alexander grows balls and faces the mandatory challenger, we'll see what happens.
I know I'm one of them, an American fan of his that is. Grows balls? Alexander has fought just about every tough opponent the weight classes he has been in, has to offer. He is not the one that needs to step up and fight a live opponent Kell is. I said "British peeps" because it seems like it's mostly my British pals who rate the Hatton win. As I have already said, I just want to see how he fares against elite level opposition. I like Kell and I'd love to see him defeat Alexander, however based off what we have already seen of him against sub-par competition I am not sure he could defeat Devon.
Carson Jones (I like Jones, but he is a step above a club level fighter if we're being honest) started fighting a round or two shy of mapping a workman like blueprint. 114-114, 116-113 & 115-113, One or two more rounds on two of the judges scorecards, and we aren't even having this conversation.
Brook was getting his ass beat by Carson Jones, Alexander would school him in route to a brutal tko in he later rounds.
