I think it's time for Murray to issue a public statement to clear things up.

Nothing felix does seems to please you, Sugar! One minute you want him to fight Macklin, next its GGG. If Tyson was in his prime you would probably expect him to fight Iron Mike too?!!!
Felix is keeping his fans happy, not ducking and diving like Murray.
Murray is in England, so is his promoter, yet his fans, ( his rapidly shrinking pool of fans!) have no clue what's going on with him.

For their sake could he not issue a statement.

Lets not beat about the bush, your praise for Macklin has more to do with nationalism than boxing skill, which i find odd as Macklin was born in England.

Are you sure that your analysis is of Murray ?

Lets take a look at Macklin shall we .......

Who has Macklin beat thats remotely worthy of mention ?

No engine, in almost every fight he spends the last 4 rounds staggering about like a drunk.

No defence, Macklin gets his face minced in nearly every fight, and when he throws punches he's even more open.

Adaptable ? he fights the same way everytime, he's a high workrate pressure fighter, which is a strange tactic when you consider he doesn't have the best engine. He looked better in the later rounds against Sturm, but that is because of how Sturm fights, he's Methodical, hiding behind the gloves and opening up in spurts, he doesn't chase opponents around the ring wasting energy.

You say he beat Surm and that Murray got a gift ?
I've watched both fights several times, Macklin was certainly the busier, but lots of his shots landed on Sturms gloves. Murray was throwing shots around the guard, and whilst he may not have thrown the volume of punches that Macklin did, he had plenty of success.

You say Macklin would have finished the version ( pale shadow) of Martinez that Murray fought ?
Sorry but i don't believe Martinez looked any different in these fights, except for the fact that his face was busted up after Murray, and blemish free after Macklin.

When alls said and done, i like Macklin, he's exciting, leaves it all in the ring, and will fight anybody, BUT he's lost against every decent fighter he's fought, and he'd be well beaten by Murray.
Murray would do what he always does (you seen one Murray fight you've seen them all) he'd sit behind the high guard catching most of Macklins shots on the gloves, he would open up in spurts and cut Macklins face up, Macklin would start to tire after the midway point and Murray would start to throw more shots against the fading Macklin.

    Murray TKO10 imo

Murray is the more rounded fighter.
He may not excel in any one department, but he's solid, strong, has an excellent defence, reasonable pop, a decent jab, etc etc

You make your points very well. Really excellent post, shakey. I mean that sincerely. Fair dues.
Its great ( and rare!) to see someone on here who can actually put his point across so well! In a way our difference of opinion is a bit like Murray and Macklins rivalry....there's not much in it either way and a case can be made for both sides!

Just to clarify a point or two...trust me I am NOT blinded by nationalism at all.
Macklin HAS beaten good guys ...won British and European titles by KO and he really did win against Sturm, no mean feat considering how Sturm easily out pointed your boy Murray and rolled over Barker like a panzer squashing a Mini Cooper!
The more relevant question is who has Murray beaten, IMO. apart from two very flattering fights against a disinterested Sturm, and a small, old, injured Martinez, Murray's overall career is instantly forgettable, no?
Mack's engine is far superior to Murray's....his problem has been the profligate way he has squandered his energy ....you can't go off at a sprint pace when the race is a marathon. It think he realises this now.

Anyway as I say, it's great to get such good feedback, keep it up. Happy New Year!

I know how you feel.I made the mistake of saying Carl Froch should defend against Stevenson. Was told it was a terrible mismatch,Froch would obliterate him,Stevenson was rubbish, etc. No apologies. Most have left now anyway.
Dont necessarily agree with you about Sturm and Murray.I thought Murray earned his draw, but I couldn't separate Sturm and Macklin, either. But lets face it,none of them deserve to be unified champion.I was very disappointed in Murray last time out.He should take the fight, but will have to perform a lot better than that.He didn't look a world class fighter.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then Len.
Only way to put this to bed is for them to fight each other, problem is i don't see that happening anytime soon.
    Happy New Year to you.

If he fought Macklin I said I'd understand due to the robbery in their previous encounter. He's not fighting Macklin so therefore should be fighting the guy he's been ducking for years GGG. A fighter who actually wants to make big fights happen. I note you've ducked my other response:

"Because - GGG was his mandatory for an absolute age and so in my eyes he is the most guilty of ducking him as he's been doing it the longest and having to work the hardest to swerve him. This is especially annoying as Felix hid behind mandatory fights before when the opposition suited him. Then there is the actual attempt at paying not to fight GGG which in my eyes is almost as bad as a duck gets.

All this and Golvkin is even willing to fight in Germany where Felix has been the beneficiary of his fair share of dodgey decisions.

So the question is why are you such an advocate of such a man? And why do you give so much heat to other fighters who aren't half as infuriating?

Also for what it's worth I give just as much stick to Quillin and Sergio for not setting up a fight with GGG. Now if we could just see some consistency from you on these types of matters..."

I am a fan of Felix as a boxer and a man. He is a good clean fighter in the ring, a top class technician in fact. Outside the ring he is a classy human being and a credit to boxing. Great to see him achieve a return to peak form at an age where most guys are washed up.

Now I want sugar88 to achieve a return to good form, and stop all this moaning and negativity! New year, new attitude!
