If the rumours of Kessler v Shumenov are true then this is the next best thing. The first fight was outstanding and you just know it would sell out the Bell Centre after what Froch did to Bute. If Froch wins it could set up Froch v Kessler 2 for IBF/WBA Unification match in Nottingham. In an ideal world I'd love to see Froch win these fights and finish his career by battering Cleverly. Go out as a former 3 time SMW champ and the reigning IBF/WBA/WBO Light Heavyweight champ.
The only problem with this scenario is he would have to take on a mandatory or two which in the twilight of his career is something he shouldn't be doing (unless the mandatory is a meal ticket)
I agree. . The fight really doesn't have nearly the same luster, and appeal as a Pascal/Froch fight does. . . If Hopkins beat Dawson, then definitely. . . I still think Hopkins has another fight or two left in him, but just don't like Froch/Hopkins. . . Would rather see Hopkins/Cleverly (the welschman - that fight would be massive in Wales). . . Froch/Pascal have their own history, and plus the history of Froch with Bute - so Montreal would be HYPE for this fight. . . Excellent style-mesh, as we've seen. . .
Lol you cray. . . Cloud was exposed against Campillo. . . He can't deal with lateral movement. . at all. . Pascal isn't as sharp as Campillo, nor is he as good technically, but he can skeet around just as fast, and he hits a lot harder. Cloud would be plodding forward, following Pascal around the ring, walking into his ambushes round, after round. . . Only way Cloud can win is if Pascal compeltely gasses, and Cloud gets him on the ropes, and flurries him out. . Which is a definite possibility, albeit not nearly as likely as the two, or three scenarios in which Pascal would win.
Based on what? Pascal beat Dawson and was competitive against Hopkins, meanwhile Cloud got absolutely schooled by Campillo. Must be lonely on that bandwagon.
Why not? I think Froch would be the favorite at this point simply because he has momentum. The style and speed will always be a factor in favor of JP, but Froch is seasoned and proven. His confidence is high as it should be. I'd love to see this one again.
SIR POST BOX! Yes, he's fighting Cloud on August 11th! Should be a CRAKKER of a tear-up! Tune in on SHowtime! Or in England, boxnation/boxingguru. . . I'm just assuming Pascal is going to beat Cloud, which I think he will. . . Kessler was trying to fight Cloud, but Cloud ducked him; he said: " I'm obligated to my mandatory, Murat. . " But then a few weeks later he signed to fight Pascal. . . The winner of pascal/cloud would be GREAT for Kess, or Froch. . .
Yeah, ive been saying for a while that Cloud is ****, Pascal isn't great either but very exciting, lots of cracking fights to be made out there.
Every boxer is in need of money, these are the last people who will be financially stable in the long term. Also this is Hopkins! He's a legend, not someone who is defined by his previous fight. If we're talking about losses, why would he fight Pascal when he could fight the guy that schooled Pascal twice? The title is significant, but Froch is a warrior, I'm sure he wouldn't be too bothered about giving up his title especially seeing as he has proven again and again that he is one of the best at 168.
Rumours. Pascal has a difficult fight coming up with Tavoris and they are already whispering about a rematch. ****...
