Agreed I would much rather see this than see Canelo move up to pick up a cheap belt in another weight class.
Good fight. I don't think Canelo has anythignt o worry about here but Charlo might make it interesting if he comes to win.
Charlo is a legit opponent for Canelo. As would Benevidez. Maybe I'm deranged but I'd love a Canelo-Andrade fight. The pressers would be historical. "Horrrible fighter; GTFO here Mr Payday".
If anyone hasn't said it yet... another cherry pick for Ginger Balls. He ploughs through the Evil Charlo Sister like a hot ice pick through a marshmallow.
This is absolutely the key difference, at this point Canelo's major advantage is that high level experience. He's not fast, his power is nothing special, but for most opponents he's seen a better version of everything they do. The winner of Charlo vs Andrade would have a much better chance of beating Canelo than either would without that fight. If you think back a few years ago there was a contingent saying Canelo was ducking Charlo and Andrade. It's time for Charlo to move up anyway, he's just draining himself to make 160.
Korobov schooled Charlo? When did that happen? As far as I remember Korobov was almost knocked out in round 12 by Charlo.
What happened to the usual crowd who crowed "they fought nobody" everytime Andrade and Charlo were mentioned?
A few thoughts on this:- + At least Charlo can bang a bit + Jermall beat Derevyanchenko, and although close, it was much the same as GGG vs Sergey - of course styles make fights and triangle theories be damned, but he operates in the top level + Jermall has some dog in him and had to grit out a few hairy moments against Derev - Jermall has never fought at 168 and Canelo is now bedded in at that weight (or above) - Last time out he looked like he had regressed against Montiel - although Montiel was tough as leather boots! At least Jermall has the pop to gain Alvarez respect, and IMO I'd rather see this than the Makabu strap-grab; it answers any questions on whether Canelo ducked the Charlos at 160. I think it comes down to whether Charlo can actually tag Canelo enough to get his respect, and whether he can stand up to the body-work that Alvarez seems to be perfecting - if he can stop Canelo setting his feet and seeking out the big chopping body blows, then maybe he can keep it competetive enough into the later rounds. That said, I can't see Charllo putting much of a dent into Alvarez up top, and working the body is a hard proposition with Canelo due to his counters - especially uppercuts (which is why I think GGG was constantly head-hunting )
Korobov was in as a late substitute against Charlo . matt was on the undercard in a 8 rounder wAs suddenly put into a world title 12 round fight plus he hadn't fought in ages. MAtt boxed CHARLO'S EARS OFF TILL HE RAN OUT OF GAS . He was totally exhausted but the fearsome Charlo Still couldn't put him away lol KOROBOV got robbed.. charlo refused to give him a rematch too cluck cluck
This would be a decent scrap, Canelo is not invincible at 160. Much weaker fighter, it showed against Jacobs. I predict it being a close fight with Canelo getting the nod of course.
