Not a guarantee that Guzman beats Funeka but even if he did and Pac elected to fight him, Guzman is too far removed from his best weight. I question whether he can take his speed up to 140(+) and his already light punches would have absolutely no effect on Pac especially at the higher weight.

it's too risky for Arum because after all the hype promoting this, guzman will not make weight.

btw, I thought he's got a fight with Funeka?

Roach specifically pointed out a few years back to Arum that Joan Guzman is the fight Pac should avoid at all costs due to stylistic difficulties and risk/reward (what reward?) ratio. Although I find it funny that Roach thinks Guzman is dangerous but feels Pac would knock Floyd out, which doesn't make too much sense, but what does when Roach is letting his mouth go?

It'd be a fight I'd personally love to see at 140 (because the superb Pac-Maidana brawl would end in 60 seconds), but it's risky therefore I don't see Arum making it. If you could pay 200k to Guzman to be Pac's main sparring partner due to style and skill similarities with Floyd, why would you fight the Floyd-imitator on TV risking to expose stylistic problems as weaknesses before the Mayweather fight?

Guzman is the biggest waste of talent post-Hamed retirement, but given the chance to make up for the lost years, he'd be a possible huge risk for Pacquiao, about the same risk as Sergio Martinez for Paul Williams. And we love risky fights, and if Pac insists on a 140 tune-up, I say bring on Guzman!

So stunned at the amount of imbeciles thinking Guzman would win, or even be a big problem for Pac. What does Pacquiao have to do to get the respect of these idiots for his ability? He would annihilate Guzman in a few rounds. Completely different class of fighter.

Guzman said recently that he thinks the fight with Pac will never happen. He said fighters are avoiding him and that he will not be around boxing much longer. He did say, though, that he wants to fight Pacman if he ever gets the chance to.

They won't put Pac in with a pure boxer. They never have. Guzman has to fight Funeka next week and win.

I'd like to see it, but highly doubt it will happen. He wouldn't look good against Guzman. Arum won't risk it.

And if he beats Pacquiao, then fights Shane....he'll still be the guy that ducked Margo-Cheato, Cotto...ect...and even if he fought them..then you'll say Paul Williams..and if he fights him too..then you'll say....Pavlik...then IMO..Klitschkos....ect
