Would AJ take the fight with Fury after an 18 month layoff?

    I don't think he would.

I mean would he have taken the fight with The Tuscaloser after being out for three years and only having two exhibition fights against tomato cans, let alone after everything else Fury had been through and put his body through and on top of all that over in The Tuscaloser's backyard too

I think we all know the answer to that one. You know goddamn well he wouldn't have in a million years.

Context my good man... A true professional athlete like Joshua would not let himself spend 18 months out of the ring or ever take 3 years out to binging on coke and alcohol. Not a dig at Fury who I have a lot of time for as a fighter but he's nowhere near the levels of AJ in terms of dedication to his craft and proffesinalism as an athlete!

At this stage I'm really questioning what the actual contract is for? Sounds like they've agreed they'll fight each other at some point in the future and with a 50/50 split in the first fight and 60/40 in the second.

Once they realise the site fee is a lot less than expected and US networks don't put it on PPV, and Wilder has to get his step aside, and maybe Usyk as well as he's been making noise, where's the money the fighters want?

Have they agreed who's name goes first on the poster, what gloves they wear, who ring walks second, where they fight first time and when, where they fight second time and when?

Seems like all they've got is a basic agreement that they want to fight.

It's already mid-March there's no way they're fighting in June or July unless they agree EVERYTHING else in the next 2-3 weeks, which I think is highly unlikely so we're already looking at September (assuming August is a no go)

The money is there. The details like dates aren’t.

The site fee that’s been offered by one Middle East country is $100m. It will like do 2m PPV buys in UK which is $80m before global an US rights plus endorsements. Both guys are looking at over $100m per fight easy

No chance the fighters get anywhere near 100m

In how many fights ever have the fighters earned $100m?

This fight just does not have that kind of global appeal.

It's big in the UK, but a boxing fans event in the rest of the world, and they're aren't many boxing fans.

This isn't Ali Foreman, May Pac or even Tyson Holyfield, it's two British fighters that both have limited appeal fighting in a half empty arena.

It will still be a huge success for all involved and good luck to them, I can't wait, but this just isn't the kind of huge global event that is going to generate the sums you're thinking.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. This could be quite big in the US. Everyone here knows who Tyson Fury is now, and they will parade him all over ESPN for weeks prior to the fight. If it happens June/July that falls right in the NBA playoffs, and they could seriously hype it during the finals.

That is the relative sports doldrums in the US, as football is a ways off and basketball coming to an end. People will eat this up.

I'll still be amazed if this fight happens next, the signatures mean literally nothing.

If Fury or AJ isn't happy with the rest of the arrangements then it doesn't happen.

Yeah, This is the general theory, Hearn is trying to ramp up the pressure on Fury and Team Fury by announcing before its 100% official and other things have been settled, picked and agreed.

It won't work, if we know anything about Fury it's he doesn't give a toss, he will do what he wants to do when he wants to do it.

Fury signed so they can't say he didn't sign or wouldn't sign, but I predict there will be issues with the venue and a couple of other things, Fury will say enough is enough and go and have another fight.

LOL at the man who said its not that big. :D
Its the biggest fight everyone wants to see around the world. Its not just big in the UK, its big worldwide.
Whoever think its not, its talking nonsense.
As far as Wilder, i`m convinced that no one pay him step aside money.
The so call arbitration was a complete b.c. First Wilder doesn`t have anything to catch on. The guy was literally on a mute button until the contract expired. It was quite obvious that he doesn`t want that fight. After that he lay on the excuses house, and knowing how dumb he is, even if the whole arbitrage situation was real, no one would believe or give anything to the dosser.
At the end of the day, there is a contract, and in that contract there is a concrete date. And he delayed that date and miss it completely. He can`t do a .....
No one is that stupid to throw money to someone that doesn't have any cards in his pockets.
The only one who 100% is getting step aside money is Usyk tho.
Still the fight is super big, and i wouldn't doubt it, if both fighters earn 100m. each.

No chance, forget AJ, Hearn wouldn't let AJ do that.

I honestly believe this is the strategy now from Hearn and AJ, drag this out for as long as possible knowing full well every week that goes past is another week Fury is inactive and may suffer mentally.

Apart from the stuff about Fury being pissed off with all the delays and pissed off with his own promoters for failing to guarantee him silly money for a tune-up this December just gone, I see no real cause for concern.

Fury wants the fight and will fight AJ next in June or July if he can.
AJ wants the fight and will fight Fury next.

The only issue is the promoters being able to deliver a venue that satisfies their money expectations, in these times of uncertainty.

Neither of the fighters will "duck" this fight.
    They're not stupid.
We're talking about a fight that could earn them 3 or 4 or 5 times as much as they could make anywhere else, maybe 10 times as much, straight into their bank accounts.
