Should be a great fight and really looking forward to it. Lara is one of my favourite fighters and think and hope he wins by KO again then sparks out Warrington again later this year.
The rematch is this weekend. I thought the first fight was damn entertaining. Thought the stoppage was a bit premature but I don't think it would have changed the outcome. This one should be fun again, I just hope it doesn't turn into another Lara vs Warrington 2.
I think Lara will win again by stoppage but I am hoping Wood wins. Wood Warrington is more interesting than Lara Warrington III. I'm surprised they didn't make Wood Warrington instead of Lara Wood and let Lara defend against his mandatory instead. Apparently the winner will vacate the Title anyway as a mandatory is due. The guy who stopped Thomas Patrick Ward (he's very good) will likely be ordered to face Ray Ford who is signed with Matchroom.
The way Warrington is going he'd happily fight the loser. I hope we're not subjected to yet more ludicrous "beef" at ringside if Warrington and Lara get close again...
Good fifteen minutes that, cheers. Could have done with another hour The thing that struck me is how furious Lara was. He exaggerates his position "I will show that it was not a lucky shot" etc. I love that self-motivation.
Wood has to box keep Lara honest and pick his moment to unleash his own power shots. He can't get greedy or switch off for a second. Lara hits like a truck and seemed to take Woods biggest shots OK mostly. Could be a real fine margins fight this. If Wood gets to negative Lara will get on a roll with big shots and pressure, too aggressive and there will be too many openings for Lara to swing. He's got to find the balance somehow. Big ask.
Never understood why boxing fans get annoyed about beef and claim it's all staged. For me I don't care if it is a work or shoot as the end result is the same. It's all done to promote a fight. Lara going at Warrington was perfect and exactly what a fighter should do as you have to self promote. He got the kind of heat fighters dream of having. Beef in boxing has been a mixture of work and shoot since the dawn of time. Ali clocked on from watching Pro-Wrestling promos that outside the ring is all show and the time is then where you promote yourself. Boxing would be seriously worse off if fighters didn't take part in creating beef
Lara has been stripped of the belt. He didn’t make the check weight limit and the WBA won’t allow him to drop to 126lbs as he had too much to lose in so little time. Wood can still win the belt but it’s now vacant.
I expect Lara to win and then Kholmatov Ford to be ordered which will take place on a Matchroom US show. Even if Wood wins I think he'll vacate the belt and face Warrington instead. Maybe we could see Cordina against Lara once Cordina beats Zelfa Barrett.
Won't be Warrington. He'd lose to Kholmatov and more people want to see Warrington against Wood or Lara. If Lara won he would have vacated anyway to fight Warrington so I doubt he's too bothered about being stripped off the belt. Lara weighs in at 129.8 naked. He had to weigh in above 128.5 but not too high or the bout could have been called off. Should be fine to go ahead now.
