So defensive. Chill out, mate. Flawless system? Where did I claim this? :huh We've EVOLVED to use food for energy. My point was so what? Why would any athlete actually want to starve themselves before training? Maybe in cases like Max where he can't hold down breakfast then ok, otherwise it makes no sense. Not at all. I don't believe the whole 20-30g of protein per meal any more will just be **** out idea. Any other silly, irrelevant things you want to throw my way?
So it is good if i want to lose fat, but bad if i train to compete in a sport? .. I'm still considering to experiment with it though..
Its too subjective to the point of being irrelevant. Broadly speaking you will get fit and loose fat by doing exercise. Whether you do that prior to eating or after is largely academic. For those that want to fine tune and optimise their physiques may be you might want to think about not eating prior to running (Although i think its F'in stupid). But for 99% of the population which includes you eat at least 2 hours before you run.
Best thing you can do.. Problem knowdays with the interenet is we have so much infomaton at our disposal people look for the "perfect" soloution instead of trying stuff out for themselves. When it comes to nutrition and body composition there is no 1 size fits all.
As stated, it all depends on goals. If you're training completely fasted, there is no way that biologically you can have the same performance as if you'd ingested a proper amount of carbs beforehand and allowed them to digest. I run for performance each time, trying to improve times in shorter runs, increase the length of sprints and increase the intensity of intervals. Training fasted is really of no use to me.
I take it you disagree with that then? What are you worried about? Blood sugar levels? They'll stay the same. Protein intake? You can eat lots after, it'll all get processed. Muscle atrophy? Won't happen for days. Metabolic rate? I take it you know about the Thermic effect. Starvation mode? Again, I'm not advocating training when hungry, I'm saying there's no problem with it.
Personally, I can come into the gym on an empty stomach and I wouldn't even feel a difference. As long as I'm eating properly or not starving myself, my body will run as if on its own. What does get me extremely tired is my sleep pattern. If I have trouble sleeping one night, I know it's going to be hell at the gym the following day. Nothing responds and I can't keep my lungs going without focusing on proper breathing patterns.
Same with me for food. I can do half a strenuous day's work before eating, though it's not something I favour. If I've had very little to drink, that's when I notice it, I tend to reach an uncomfortable heat very quickly. I often lack sleep but I can't say I notice much of a difference unless I've really been deprived (six hours over two nights or something). That's my downfall. Always keeping myself in good shape but I find sleeping, eating and drinking harder than most.
In this case no need fo you to run on an empty stomach If you run for performance and improve your stamina than you need proper nutrition before you go and run If you run with the hope of burning more fat as many BBs do, then maybe you can give it a try - but as scurla mention BBs don't really run, they plod and sort of try to fast walk on a treadmill, huffing and puffing, so not really helpful to improve stamina/performance
Anyone who trains for boxing is simply not working anywhere near hard enough for suitable adaption to occur if the work out you do is unaffected by pre workout nutrition... Fasted cardio has a place and works for me but I would literally collapse if I did some of my workouts on an empty stomach.... Additionally any skill work should really be done in a healthy non fatigued state... So that's no excuse either.
