depends how often you fight. between fights every WE you can 2-3 weekly run 45 min on a moderate pace.

1-2x weekly do interval runs, 4x600m in 2min

    1 day 3+ mile run.
2 days sprints, 200m intervals and 800m intervals

    That's 3 a week.
Combined with bodyweight and weight conditioning circuits another 3 days a week, that's 6 days a week you're working your conditioning and strength.

Six or eight minutes is a long time for an opponent to beat the **** out of you. Cardio is very important especially for amateur boxing. Majority of beginners are out of breath by the last round. Either that person did not get enough conditioning or did not conserve energy in the beginning rounds. Follow this program:

Sprinting is probably the best for an amateur, who's going to be fighting very short + fast-paced fights.

Make sure you work in distance work (3+miles steady-state) at least once a week though, it'll benefit you greatly if you do.

well, if you fight regularly-like in an european league every or every 2nd WE, then you dont train that hard.

you make sure that you recover during weekdays by doing easy running, shadowboxing and technique.

amateur boxing is about speed and technique, its fencing with the fists.

however, it will change from next year on to 3x3min instead 4x2min. this will require more stamina. therefore more interval runs should be made.

do 3x800m in less than 3 min. do this once a week

for the rest, stick to your schedule (if you have one)

Like fencing. Tell that to the amateurs in the USA. And where do you see rules changing back to 3x3 rather than 4x2? That's not one of the changes I heard xome out of the AIBA congress in Chicago.

as said before: amateur boxing isnt about knocking out your opponent, its about collecting points. this is done by throwing fast punches. this is what often results into a RSCO.

ill tell that to the amateurs in the USA,maybe they will be more successful then.

from next year on,there will be no headguards anymore and it goes back to 3x3min

    believe it or not
