If a fighter backs away, and has no intentions of landing shots, and is just in survival mode, then I don't advocate it.

But if a fighter lures someone in, makes them miss, and then counters to score, then I have no issue with it at all. You fight to your strengths.

But what seems to be happening more and more, is that people are labelling guys as runners, if they're not happy to trade in the centre of the ring. That's the typical view of a casual, that can't appreciate footwork, and who's never been in a boxing gym in their entire life.

I could care less what people that really dont know **** about boxing think!!! Its Pacs fault for not knowing how to cut the ring off, end of story, ring is there to be used and if you know how to cut the ring off no opponent cah "run" just ask Golovkin.

I don't understand the argument that puts negative light on a fighter who's expected to chase down his opponent because their known "style" is that they "run" or is primarily defensive. I think both fighters should be equally invested in the fight regardless of their style.

Coming into the fight with the mindset that you'd prefer keep a safe distance for most of the fight, and engage in exchanges as little as possible sounds like that the fighter is there more to survive than to win. So in essence, the judge will reward who survived the best. Not an exciting way to win but a win nonetheless.

Looking back at the fight, Pac couldn't handle mayweathers defense. Every punch Pac threw, mayweather would flinch no matter how far away he was and take a few steps back; evrytime pac would come in close-May would hold him in a clinch, or he would push his head down. When Pac would move into position to step down on his punches, mayweather would maneuver and high tail it out. When Pac would come in and try to get in range to engage with an already perceptive mayweather of the distance, May would be ready to land the jab once he passed that line.

I don't know if runner is the word, but maybe "survivor", to take the path of least resistance, to merely "pass" so to speak. Impressive or dominant? Not really. Smart? Yes.
