Nope. It just gets progressively worse -- for no apparent reason -- 'till I can barely speak for months sometime, 'n then stops as suddenly as it started.
I never run outside if it's under -10 Celcius. Last year we had -25 Celcius here. We weren't allowed to run outisde then. You can get problems with your lungs and get asthma.
If it is VERY cold, it is very bad for your lungs. Under normal conditions, there is water vapor in the air. Our lungs also expel some moisture, as the lung tissue needs to remain moist to continually expand and contract, and also aids in the oxygen absorption. When it is very cold, the air contains tiny little ice crystals rather than water vapor. Breathing normally is ok, but sucking wind (i.e. exercising) can be very damaging to your lung tissue via drying out your lung tissue and/or breathing ice crystals.
Running n the cold actually makes you sweat more, by the time cold air meets the throatit is body temperature. Hope this Helps.
Load of bollocks. Seriously, if the outside temperature is lower than body temperature how can this invoke a greater perspiratory response than when the outside temperature is above body temperature? Think before you type. I run in the cold, and prefer it. However, I always wear a jumper and start slow to allow myself to warm up. As long as you take basic care of yourself (and it's not ridiculously cold) you should be ok. ..and never run in snow, I don't care what happened in Rocky 4 it's dangerous as hell - if you want the extra exercise run on a beach instead.
