atsch Absolute BS. Breakfast kick starts your metabolism in the morning, why do you think it's the most important meal of the day?
I prefer running on an empty stomach. If it's been a while since I ate and Im worried about getting weak because of low blood sugar, I'll have a quick swig of juice ahead of time. Maybe that's because most of my working out was for weight loss purposes, as opposed to conditioning improvement. I like the idea of my body having to dip into the fat reserves for energy, thats how you burn. Your goals are probably not going to be the same.
Most boxers do run before breakfast. Tyson ran at 4 then back to bed then breakfast at 11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObhAgDpPEZ0
That may be the case for those fighters but running first thing in the morning before breakfast is the norm for fighters and has been for the last 100 years or so. To say that its not is crazy.
it isn't normal i dont know which fighter does it anymore, or has in the last 20 years if your talking about slow paced jogging thats a different story.
My argument was that fighters did this years ago and were fit enough to fight 15 rounders once a month, therefore it can't have done them any harm.
Yes we have greater resources now but that doesn't neccesarily mean previous methods are obsolete. Fighters back then fought for longer and arguably harder so must have been pretty fit through running 10 miles first thing in the morning. Also I just re read your post when u just said that we didn't have to wait for our food to digest. :huh Have u ever tried running with a bad stitch and being forced to throw up your food because u didn't wait long enough to let it settle?
fighters fought 15 rounds because they had to, now days fighters only prepare for 12 rounds because thats how long they fight, and i seriously doubt an aerobic activity such as running 10 miles especially in an empty stomach is gonna boost their stamina to compete for 15 rounds and i'm not even gonna bother arguing with your last part because i dont see why anyone would need that to be explained.
I ran this morning on an empty stomach, but this has made me think again and next time I will have some fruit first then cereal after as usual.
Being able to run 10 miles does not mean your fit, it just means you can run 10 miles. Also, 10 miles is way too far a run for a sport which is predominantly anaerobic.
