You really need to learn how to read, mate. I've said it in my last few posts, ankle weights aren't bad, running in them is. They say if you're losing an argument the thing to do is to attack someones character... Hmmm. Nothing to do with egos, you're giving information which could end up hurting people. 99% of doctors and physicians know **** all about training. They say not to do squats cause they are bad for your knees and not to do deadlifts cause they'll hurt your back... Who is this elite athlete that ran in ankle weights? You have yet to name this person. I thought you were done yesterday? Na. I'll have clients with health knees, I actually have a clue. ps. You still haven't answered my questions.
lefty i remember you used to heavily argue with me, virus and other guys about how weight training, plyometrics etc are all bad for boxers, what suddenly changed? you were so set in your ways that you wouldn't listen/believe anything we posted
Diet is a major factor of over training. Try eating 1500 cals a day and do a full body workout 5 days a week. Now do that same workout but eat 4000cals a day. Think about it, dumbass. People are born with the ability to become great punchers. Like scrap said - punchers are born then made. You calling scrap a dumbass?
Bull****. I've been jumping, running, doing plyrometrics in them for the last 10 years. I've done multiple 40, 60 and 100m sprints in them. Regular 5km runs and Im still going hard...guess what, My knees, ankles and joints are stronger than ever. I don't use them every training session and don't intend to. Who says were arguing? don't take it personal. By the way, its called a forum 'Sucker punch'. get use to it. you will have more People who are smart can make up their own minds Did you read the question??? do you know what a health check is? Go back and read through my previous posts. When you have done that, you might just be able to answer your own question. Correct! guess what, its a new day  If you still haven't figured it out, you don't have a clue! The truth hurts doesn't it!
You've done sprints with ankle weights on? Haha. I'd love to see that. How much weight are we talking 10g? Lying to save face just makes it worse. True. More of a debate. Yes. I'm sure the ones that don't want knee problems won't wear ankle weights when they run. You gave a list of entirely random names and said these people used ankle weights. You seemed to be saying they used ankle weights in their training but this is about running in ankle weights. I'll ask again - find a video of them running in ankle weights. Also, give a source of where you got this information on them using ankle weights. True. The thing is I've actually given you chances and asked you over and over to prove me wrong but you've just made some stupid responce or outright refused to do so. You haven't stated a single fact in this entire thread. Prove me wrong. Facts - Negatives for running while wearing ankle weights - messes up running mechanics, balance and coordination, can cause ligament strain, torn ligamanets, knee problems, back problems, groin problems, hip problems. There's probably more. Positives for running while wearing ankle weights - ron's job. I can't see any positives that amazing worth risking the above for. From that I'd say the negatives outweigh the positives. Again, prove me wrong.
So which website did you copy and paste that from? Please tell us so everyone can benefit including myself. It must be from a credible source. The fact you had to re-edit your post shows your out hard to protect your reputation as the 'go-to' guru on here is diminishing. You aren't really a personal trainer right?? I do admire your persistence... ps: Lefty, We are still waiting for your journals entrys mate from your sports scientists...
I didn't copy and paste that from any website. I know it. Try to make sense. I edited my post to protect my repuation? How? It is you who keeps going on about my status here. I give advice to a few people on the board, if they want to ignore me and take some random guys word, that's fine. We're still waiting for you to give the benefits of running with ankle weights, the correct technique for running with ankle weights, sources of which athletes use ankle weights while running, videos of these athletes using ankle weights while running, actually just a simple fact to back up what you say.
that is the thing that makes it highly suspect to me, it is not natural to have ten pounds or whatever weight at the end of your legs. From a mechanics standpoint it makes things a lot more complicated as well because it is at the end of a limb and is in effect cantilevered out and the stresses its going to create wont scale linearly. example a 4 pound weight isnt going to create twice as much stress as a 2 pound weight on your knees, it will be more than twice as much.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out whether something works for you or not. How many ways are there to run? come on personal trainer..do I have to speak......slowly......and......in......plain......simple......language? Are you really that ignorant? or do you get amnesia very quickly...go back and read everything again. And don't give me that 'trying to avoid the question crap'. Off to bed. By the way...You mustn't have many clients if you spend alot of time on hear defending your ego. When do you get the time time to train them all, if any???
Whats there to prove. I've been using ankle weights for over 10 years with no majors issues directly involved with usage. And all of the negatives you mentioned are pointless, why?? because there are a lot of different factors that contribute to all those problems. Take away the ankle weights and show me a boxer, athlete who has never had at least one, if not more of those injuries you specified. Come on Virus, you aren't that stupid are you? You just shot yourself in the foot. GAME OVER!
This about sums it up. Mate, I've asked him multiple times to give proof of what he's saying, all he says is "Well I've been doing it for 10 years" like that proves anything. He can't prove anything. Kinda funny yet pathetic that he's still trying to carry it on.
I shot myself in the foot? How? By naming a few of the possible injuries caused by running with ankle weights on? You'll have to explain that one in simple English. Many athletes get many injuries, do you know what causes most of those injuries? Training incorrectly, like running with weights around their ankles. Hmmm, that's a shocker.
