There seems to be something strange about this turn of events, yes.

But regardless of what was the real reason.......Its good to see such a great, unbeaten heavy such as CHagaev get back to fighting....................

bUT now that Chagaev is OK and training for a fight, and after seeing how Chag went on about how brave he and SUltan were for putting together a unification fight, and then it slipped away to Holyfield............NOW, with Chag claiming to want to unfiy...As does Wlad, who also needs a fight...................Wlad vs. Chagaev is like the 800 pound gorilla sitting in the room. It HAS to happen. Period.

I agree with you, considering that they literally found Holyfield as a replacement as soon as Chagaev pulled out due to sickness, that seemed strange enough to me. How they got all the contracts done so quick. I don't care if this is the case though, have Wlad and Chagaev fight because honestly, a Wlad-Tua fight would not help Wlad at all. He would just jab Tua to death and PERHAPS even stop him late by referee stoppage but everyone will just say how washed up Tua was and how a prime Tua would of destroyed Wladdy.

I'd love to see Chag fight one more opponent before he enters into the ring with Wlad.

Chagaev v Virchis Part II - this would be a beautiful fight. Then Klitschko.

I would like to see him fight someonw his own size.

Sultan would have been nice, but Rahman or Tua would be fun too.

Of course I agree that Wladdy is the fight. He is the only man currently active with the credentials. Any other fight fo Wlad is essentially meaningless.

Chagaev's last fight was for the belt, he shouldnt get a chance to fight for another belt as his next fight. He needs a chance to prove that he can hold that belt before risking it with another boxer. Virchis is fighting Dimitrenko, so forget him. But there are others that would be nice to see put Chagaev to a test.

He was schedules to fight Sultan for a belt before his illness so why is it not ok to fight Wlad? Even putting the belts aside for a moment Wlad and Ruslan are the top 2 heavyweights at the moment and the best fight that can be made. One belt doesn't make anyone champion anyway, beating the best in the division does.

Chagaev also is the biggest threat to Wlad out of any of the current beltholders. That fight would be a win/win for everyone- even if Chag loses, he'll still get respect for having fought a level of competition that's a cut above most other heavyweights.

Ibragimovs camp is not impressed by this turn of events. Some comments from Sultans manager Boris Grinberg from Fightnews:

The Iggy who went life and death with Ray Austin is the best hw :yep
If Iggy-Wlad ever came off, Wlad would ruin and I mean absolutely ruin this dude.

Secondly, he calls a guy who steps in the ring risking life and death someone with no heart. What a douche bag!

YOu know, guys. We all know that Chag is not afraid of Iggy.

YOu think maybe this happeend because Chag has some kind of handshake on a mega-fight?

    Wladdy? Lennox? The real Tyson?

Even if Ruslan Chagaev lost to Wlad it would not be that bad for him cause once the IBF & WBA are united, Wlad would become Super Champion of the WBA and the Regular WBA belt would become open and he would be one of the first to get a shot at that belt. A fight with Wlad would be the biggest money fight for him in the heavyweight division and is a risk that is worth taking for what he could get in return if he were to put a left hook of the sweet spot of Wald's fragile chin and make some history and become the Ring Champion

Lewis-Chagaev is obviously the big money right now.

Man, that would be some torn loyalties for me.

I have been Lewis guy since the Olympics, but I like Chag and we need a guy for the future.
