Chag has looked on the downslide ever since the Wlad mismatch, where he got beaten from pillar to post and landed 1 meaningful punch on Wlad

in his prime, he was the only one who clearly outboxed Valuev, beat Ruiz clearly, but he hasn't looked good in a while, he's also put on A LOT of weight (he weighed in an even 250 in his last fight!), so despite beating Pudar, he shouldn't be fightin for any version of any title

If he's shot, he'll be an easy win for Adamek to get his HW title against.

Look, I don't like paper champs, but this meaningless strap does have it's benefits.

For instance, as we type, Wladimir is happily negotiating with DKP and Sauerland to fight Pulev and Stiverne.

B/C.......he doesnt have to concern himself with Chagaev or Oquendo or Kauffman or Jennings or Ortiz atm.....

This minor title gives contenders, washed up or not, and prospects something to fight for, and in that, it makes for ecent matchups and weeds out the "shot Chagaev's" and "fading Oquendos" in the process.

I want Adamek to win a HW title.......not b/c he's the best HW in the world, but b/c he's been one of the best fighters in this era, and by winning even a minor title like this one, it will greatly raise his credentials for the IBHOF, and his ATG ranking in the years to come.
This is the only likely scenario for Adamek getting a title......same goes for Jennings, Scott, fringe guys like Kauffman, DelBoy, and Rodriguez.

It's got it's up and it's downs. Point being......NOBODY is gonna consider Chagaev the HWCotW......it's not even gonna raise him to top 5 on BR.....hell, he'll be lucky to break into the ring top 10 with the title.

Good stuff. IMHO this fight is merely a prelude for another fight where Wilder, Adamek, Haye, Povetkin, or some other well-known fighter will get ahold of the paper title.

But in the process, they'll have to beat a much better fighter than Malik Scott, shot Liakovich, and Audley Harrison.

I like Haye(as a fighter), but he don't want to fight to earn his $$$$$, he just wants free title shots. If he were to come back, he'd have to go thru Chagaev or Potevektin or whoever is holding the WBA minor title ATM, and that would be a good solid win making him worthy of a look from Wladimir.

    Same goes for Wilder.

Suppose he sidesteps his WBC shot and decides to chase after Oquendo Chagaev winner.
He'd have a much higher chance of beating Oquendo than beating Stiverne and depending on what Chagaev's got left, probably a better shot at beating him.
That said....say Wilder wins the WBA title from Chagaev/Oquendo. From there, he'll have 6 months to make a defense of it, and it would likely be against Adamek, Glaskov, or the Potvetkin Charr winner.

If he were to beat any of the above, we'd be hard pressed to say he aint worth a shot at Wlad.:think

who cares? Neither of these fighters should be anywhere near a title at this point. And, quite frankly, Fres was never good enough when he was in his prime. (10+ years ago)

Good point....;..except this isnt a title.

And it will mandate good matchups from the winner.:deal
