Watch Charles on Film 1950-1951. YES 1950-1951 COUNTS AS PART OF THE DECADE....You will see Charles has Skills Speed and Sharpness that Chagaev couldnt deal with. Answer this, do you think Chagaev beats the 1950 version of Ezzard Charles? Why can't you get it through your head Charles DRAMATICALLY DECLINED from 1954-1955 Physically....to the point from going to a # 1 heavyweight contender/great fighter to being Shot. Charles literally was ruined from the two Marciano wars. You have to separate the Charles 1950-1954 from the 1955-1959 Charles If you going to count Moores fights vs Charles at 175lb as counting as "heavyweight" fights, then you might as well throw Moores fights with Harold Johnson at 175lb and count them as heavyweight fights. Moore went 4-1 vs Johnson. i dont see how moores loss to charles AT 175lb have any meaning on his heavyweight career. Nino Valdez was the # 1 rated Heavyweight contender. Your saying this isnt a top win? Jimmy Bivins a Hall of Fame Heavyweight was top 5 rated, this isnt a top win? Clarence Henry and Bob Baker were top 5 rated by Ring Magazine, these arnt top level wins? Archie Moores career heavyweight record is around 70-3.....That is a VERY IMPRESSIVE record indeed. Bogart....The walcott who knocked out Charles and took a prime Marciano 13 gruelling rounds makes Chagaev look like an amatuer IMO
HAHA exuses exuses. You have em for all of vitali's losses. Vitali has more "injury" exuses than any fighter who ever lived for crying out loud. The man has an extremley low tolerance for pain, and does not fight well under adversity clearly. Maskaev KNOCKED vitali out plain and simple, no exuses. Pele Reid also knocked vitali OUT COLD to the temple....This was before Vitali tested positive for steroids banning him from olympics.
Mendoza says that doesn't count 'because he's tested clean his whole pro career' Amateur career doesnt count when it comes to steroids. BTW easy to avoid steroid detection if you know what your doing, Vitali got smart after being caught in '96 :hey
How is Chagaev going to react vs Walcott when hes getting triple jab combinations pumped into his face, hows he going to react when walcott pretends to walk away then comes back with a huge counter trap shot, and hows chagaev going to react when Walcott pounds away on him on the inside with short powerful left hooks and uppercuts?
I would love to see how people think Chagaev would do against Liston, Marciano, Walcott, Charles and Patterson now
Jersey Joe Walcott is the most overrated heavyweight in h2h matchups, the guy is 10-12 against ranked opponents but unless you're a top 10 heavyweight of all times, you just can't beat this guy in h2h matchups on esb. Riddick Bowe and david tua would both smash this overrated glass jawed 'legend'.
Walcott post 1944 has a WINNING record against Ring Magazine top 10. Your seriousely telling me this guy is overrated? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gB09VEEZvM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2-5fq0sGMs&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFX0F0qUM-Q&feature=related
The guy was a good fighter, but I consider him as the ken norton of his era. Put up good fights with great fighters, but he isn't one of the all timers and shouldn't be recognised as such. The guy was a journeyman for most of his career and has been stopped several times. I have no problem beleiving bowe and tua both stop him handily.
