Not sure about the KO/TKO. But what Chagaev did well against Valuev, was good footwork, fast hand speed, able to duck under the long arms an fight on the inside and after a clinch, the best thing going for Chagaev was the "second attack". Court Valuev before he was "ready" numerous times and that gave Chagaev the UD.
But Wlad > Valuev so........................ who knows ?

I wouldn't say it's 50/50, but 5:1 or even 4:1 is underestimating Chagaev pretty bad. He is no Corrie Sanders, but he is a southpaw with some explosive power, and unlike Sanders, his stamina is pretty good, he has an iron chin and combined with pressure, he might gave Wlad some Brewster-esque trouble...

Odds like that, you may as well put a flutter on Chagaev.

Even if he's only got a little chance of winning you may as well, as you'll get a load of cash if he springs the upset.

If I still bet on boxing, I'd lay on Wlad at those odds. He should be more like a 10-1 favorite.

What's in Chagaev's blood? What is his problem? Hepatitis, HIV, Swine Flu seems mysterious to me :huh

I think the books got it right.

Although, there are some here that believe Chagaev would be top 5 in any era.....so...

:rofl Mendoza's views dont reflect the views of others. Here's how I see it, Chagaev has looked very medicore in his last couple fights, but so has the heavyweight division as whole, so I guess he's on par with everyone else. He has slightly above average power, good chin, and decent overall boxing skills. The fact that he's a southpaw just buys him more time to make Wlad feel more uncomfortable in the ring, as well as a little scared of being countered.

Wlad has been getting the job done lately, but not really looking that impressive in doing it. Taking far too long to knockout a very washed up and weak chinned Rahman, as well as leaving no punch Thompson in the fight for 10 rounds. This will be Wlad's toughest test since Peter in 05, so the ball is in his court.
