Provo is still badass but any knowledgable fan that's seen him fight before knows he's limited

 

Provo got a lot of fame from his match with Bradley which was less a boxing exhibition and more a slugging match between two brawlers.
From that match anyone should have been able to deduce that Provo would lose to a true boxer due to his limited boxing foundation.
Casual fans become armoured by the display of raw power even when it lacks technical precision.
The Bradley-Provo match appealed to that large body of casual boxing fights who prefer to watch two brawlers slug it out wildly while deploying little to no defensive skills, ala Gatti-Ward.
They prefer these high octane, high head banging matchups rather than two boxers with masterful sweet science technique which they would find boring, for example Mayweather-Lara or Hopkins-Ward.

Provo is in a long line of Russian Puncher/brawlers such as GGG, Kovalev, Provo who are active in today's professional boxing ranks. So far, none of them I have observed have any deep technical boxing ability with perhaps Lomachenko being one of the few exceptions.
