Provodnikov has exactly zero ring cutting skills, he would somehow get Algieri to the corner and while he was trying to set Algieri up, Chris would circle away.

The most success he had was in earlier rounds when Algieri would throw a jab or left hook and drop his right hand, Provodnikov would catch him with a hook. After Algieri fixed that, Provodnikov was trying to fight from distance and play the jabbing game.

The fight was ugly, barely any head punches landed cleanly from both sides and it's hard to score rounds like that.

But on a side note, Algieri doesn't seem to have power to make a hole in wet toilet paper.

You know, "zero" is a funny word. Some people have exactly no idea what it means. Zero idea, funnily enough.

Neither was defensively acute last night, but you certainly cannot give it to Provo. It's almost as if he eschews defense(and being a brawler fighting a boxer, it makes sense to eat 2 to try and land 1.) But you can't give defensive consideration to guy who blew of the entire concept. Not only did he eat shots at a higher clip, but he ate more of them overall, but obviously not with the same hurtful intent as he delivered, which is one of the main reasons I guess I scored the fight for him.

    But...........!............

Ring generalship would be awarded to Algieri in my book as Provo ended up chasing uim and fighting more according to his style as opposed to his own. Had he been able to corner him consistently and go to work rather then letting him slip out the back after 1 shot each time, i'd give it to him.

A fight like this is a classic case that outlines the intricacies of scoring a boxing match. At what point of the continuum does what 1 guy is trying to do separate itself from what the other guy is letting him do. (Provo allowing Algieri to pepper him with jabs and light shots to try and land a fight changer),(Algieri giving up ground in order to utilize his assets; speed, range and mobility.) Each cannot be done alone without 1 obliging the other to some degree.

Now see, I've gone and caught myself in my own trap. I shall now see to sawing off my own leg at the shin so as to extricate myself.
