Big Alexander fan, but as long as the Provodnikov who fought Bradley wasn't fighting 3X his normal capacity (well he was, but as long as it was not a one time only fluke), I'd probably have to go with Provodnikov here.
*Sigh* Debum Alecrapnder.. Why oh why does he keep getting brought up. He suckz. Quitter, sissy, boring, annoying... just a lame-o. Provodnokiv by TKO within 5 rounds. Alexander QUITS in his usual disguised way.
i seriously doubt that he could beat Devon Alexander. he's pretty one dimentional. Bradley fought like an idiot and every time he chose to be on the outside and box, he had pretty easy time. Alexander isn't foolish. he'll be on his bike for the majority of time and land clean punches. also, Alexanders chin is IRON. i don't see him getting buzzed and put on ***** street like Bradley all night long. plus he knows how to CLINCH when things get too rough. Alexanders boxing ability and speed takes it for me...
that "quitter/sissy" made a "warrior" like Maidana his ***** and almost stopped him. and iron man Matthysse couldn't stop him. :yep now, he's about to end Brooks hype :hi:
I disagree that Bradley dominated once he chose to box. He chose to box in round 3. He got his ass whooped hardcore in round 6 and 12, and a little in round 11 too. It wasn't because he quit boxing, it was because he got hit while doing so.
I hate Alexander but he probably has more respectable power at the weight than Bradley plus has shown the willingness and capability to spoil all night against a pressure fighter.
It really isn't a question to me if you compare Ruslan to Maidana I would take Maidana but they both hit hard and can take shots but Ruslan would get gassed and Alexander would start racking up rounds, I coil even see this getting called a robbery as Devon will outbox the **** out of him
Ooh, I like this. Both have weaknesses the other can exploit. I could see it resembling something more like Alexander vs. Urango/Alexander vs. Maidana (advantage Alexander) where the hard charger is tamed with counters, or something more like Provodnikov vs. Corley/Provodnikov vs. Bradley (advantage Provodnikov) where the boxer-puncher is dragged into a streetfight. I think a key factor would be how many rounds/what's on the line. If it's an eliminator or title bout over 12, I might lean slightly in Ruslan's direction with his relentless pressure, body punching, making Alexander waste energy hitting gloves or simply bouncing his fists off that iron chin (since the Russian's defense sort of fades in and out), and Devon sabotaging himself by slowly losing steam from all his spendthrift darting around, strategic clinching, barking & prodigious slapping all conspiring toward a late TKO. Over 10, I would think Alexander can bank enough points outboxing him...and if he's able to time one of his patented uppercuts when Provodnikov is coming forward, that's a game changer. :think
That was the first time I've ever seen Provodnikov but he showed more of that intangible that's not directly related to boxing skill, heart, desire, whatever you want to call it, than I've ever seen from Alexander. He's another guy who looks really good when a fights going his way, looks like a top fighter in fact, but when he has it put on him he goes into skate by and hope it goes my way mode.
The only boring fights Alexander has been in are Bradley and His last one .Any other fight has been entertaining .
