I know, I was being sarcastic. Russell has hand speed, but seems to lack the power that you would think would accompany it.

Not true at all. Only overly sensitive boxing fans get bent out of shape when other fans discuss their observations of a fighter. Russell Jr. is very athletically blessed in terms of hand speed. He is young, and throws decent combinations. So far he seems to lack power though. He needs to work on his stamina, and defense as well. Me noticing these things doesn't make me a casual boxing fan, or a novice fan, it may mean I am a keen observer who doesn't let personal bias cloud my opinion of a fighter.

Reminds me of the hype people were throwing behind Jermain Taylor when he was coming up, and the way some boxing fans got bent out of shape because I stated that Taylor wasn't a power puncher, needed to work on his defense, and his hand speed was over rated despite what HBO was trying to get the fans to believe.

I'm excited for Russell as he's a hometown fighter. Nice combos, always mixes in very good bodywork along with his headshots, and capitalizes nicely when opponents make mistakes. I feel he has decent pop, not along the lines of Gamboa, but that "shoeshining" stings quite a bit.

Before he fights Gamboa...he needs to learn to move his head and torso a lot more...especially in that come forward stalking style that he has.
