Listen, we know G-Russ opposition isn't great, but the most important thing is that he isn't struggling with these guys and running straight thru them as an elite should...

Fair statement, but it's still way too soon to say he will handle somone in Mares' caliber. Remember how much of a monster Bute was looking against soft opposition? Then he went up against Froch...

Lets see him run through at least some B-level fighters the same way first and then we can start talking.

I haven't clowned his opposition. I'm just wondering WTF they're doing managing his career. I actually like this type of stuff... It builds interest in fights when someone is brash enough to say what he said. If he does feel that way, he should look to make that fight very soon.

Seems like a lot of you here rate a fighter based on potential. What the **** is potential? Look at any new born in the hospital, and he can potentially be a future; brain surgeon, astronaut, rocket scientist etc, etc... But most likey just end up being a ****ing average joe.

My point is that potential aint ****. Prove it.

Bingo :good! People forget that the dude got beat by Robert Marroquin. He ain't beating Mares. The only person who can challenge Mares at featherweight is Mikey Garcia and Nonito Donaire (Rigondeaux won't go up) both of whom are elite fighters. Mares also has had a good amateur career.

As someone mentioned, I remember people saying how great Moreno was and how he'd just go in the ring and Whitaker all over Mares. Once Mares beat "the Panama Whitaker," people stopped talking about Moreno as though he was a leper. Mares is eating through all these elite fighters that people are saying he is "tailor-made for" or "doesn't stand a chance against." Man, I love this kid.

Only people who called Moreno the panama Whitaker clearly never saw a prime Pea Whitaker. Moreno was no where near as good nor complete and it was insult to Pea to call Moreno that so just stop it. With that said you would be a fool not to pick Mares in this fight based on the limited opposition Russell Jr has faced thus far. He needs to step up and fight someone with a pulse and I have no idea why he hasn't been getting hard fights???

Jr will come out with the victory, Mares will fight all the way though.

Yep! This obviously is coming from a GR fan but I also like Mares as well, but the difference in skill is wide.

Russell wins. I like Mares a lot, but Russell is special. If they fight, Russell wins. A lot of you will be surprised.
