my sense is, theuy were going toe to toe in the last round and blasting away at each other...GRJ landed more punches but loma's were harder and more effective and seemed to hurt GRJ more because loma was bigger and stronger.

What would there agenda be if Lomachenko is a Toprank fighter when they all mainly fight on HBO?

The only reason this fight happened on ShowTime is GBP won the purse bids.

From someone who put almost all his vcash on russell to win and wasn't a fan of loma at all, this is a total farce of scorecard.

Loma was bigger but again......in this fight the size played no role at all in how this fight unfolded. It was clear the level in class was the big difference......Loma has equal talent, but his experience and savvy inside the ring gave Jr all kinds of trouble. He couldn't find his rhythm and therefore never really found his mark. Loma on the other hand controlled the fight and made sure Gary never gained any momentum.

I think the agenda was simple. Loma is a great fighter and already at the championship levels after 3 fights. If Showtime can dig their claws into him now it is genius. Also another loss for Loma would have killed his marketability. For Showtime to be so flowery about a HBO guy something is up. Loma won the fight and dominated down the stretch but the announcing was pretty bad. I don't think Russell beats Loma at any weight but it was frustrating to me to have all that speed and basically smother yourself. If he learns how to use his speed and change pace of punches he will be a lot better. The heart and chin are there. Loma landed some killer body shots that would have ko'd most.

It's funny, Loma was the bigger fighter, but he never really used it to try and bully Russell. Everything he did was about controlling tempo and range, and the fight was about skills first rather than any physical mismatch.

Russell threw enough punches to win the fight; the most important factor last night was that Lomachenko never neglected his defensive responsibilities. He never left himself open after combos, and even when they traded, his upper and lower body movement made it practically impossible for Gary to land anything meaningful (and most of the time, anything at all). To prevent a fighter with Russell's handspeed and workrate from landing cleanly on him all night (and to accomplish that without spoiling tactics) was exceptional.

did you not see all the rounds where GRJ took the play from loma by makihng loma back up or did you miiss all that?...because there were quite a few rounds where loma landed virtually nothing of significance and GRJ was the one initiating all the action wile loma simply kept backing off. also, to dismiss the size difference makes no sense. do you really think a bigger guy doesn't have an advantage simply by virtue of being bigger and having a bigger punch and the ability to take a bigger punch and be more physical?

He will definitely be back he just needs to make some adjustments, so I agree with that, the rest of what you said is ridiculous.

i think the one judge gave GRJ 4 of the first 5 rounds...i can definitely see that...russell was throwing a lot more. the pattern was, russell would start off each round with sharp combos that backed up loma...GRJ would take a big lead in the round then in the last minute and a half, loma would land some punches and close the gap. the question was: did russell do enough in the early part of the round to offset loma's rally in the latter half of the round?...to me, the differnence in the early part of those rounds was clear.... but the latter half of the round would be more competitive. so, i gave GRJ rounds 2-4 by a slim margin.
