    Q: -How are negotiations going?

R: -Very difficult. I dont understand. It seems that they dont want Wilder to fight Sasha. Looks like they are building their negotiating strategy in a way to avoid this fight... I have in mind two tactics. We make the fight together with the Americans in the United States. But my condition - we will do in a best possible way, it should be a show on highest possible level! For a long time there were no great fights in the heavyweight division. Everyone knows what it is, who are these guys and what is the competition. It's a fight for the WBC title.

The second tactic - if negotiations remain unsuccessful, then I am just gonna try to win a purse bid. Either I will buy it for a high price, or the other side will buy it, but also for high price. And of course I'll try to pay a lot to make the fight in Russia.

Q: - Will the figures be comparable to the Povetkin - Klitschko fight?

    R: - Yes.

Q: - Are you ready to fly in the US?

R: - We are ready to fly to America. We are not afraid. Probably making the fight in US will be even better. Because it will be there will be a purse bid, I will do everything to make a fight in Russia.

Looks like he's ready to lay down the big bucks again. Not sure why Wilder's team wouldn't jump at that chance, its more money than he'd make in the rest of his career if he just kept fighting fringe contenders like Duhaupas. And if they're that scared of Povetkin, it's likely that one day Wilder would get unlucky, get caught by one of those fringe contenders and lose anyway.

That's all you need to know about Team Wilder and Al Haymon.

They want a purse bid. Wilder gets 70 percent of the bid. It's pretty simple.

It's all pointless. Wilder will find a way to duck

Even if that means fighting in Russia? I think they're just hoping that the WBC will let them string it out over the course of a few years.

Then he must vacate his belt. Povetkin is mandatory.

Wilder gets 70-75%, as he should. He's waiting for the fight to get juicy

Sounds like he is trying to avoid the fight all together. His fights against Molina and Duhaupas are embarrassing as title defenses.

Wilder is going to get his Glass Jaw shattered in Russia if he goes over there.

If that's the case, then it is what it is

He still gets a good 16-18 million before he does.

But I see Povetkin being the one who gets his glass shattered, dude has NO chin. :yep

No purse bid is mentioned, they don't want the fight period.

Why do you think Povetkin is fighting Wach, they thought the fight would happen in Nov! Haymon is flat out ignoring them.

I expect them to beg WBC for multiple purse bid extensions similar to Garcia-Postol then they will just turn around and fight Wlad in a unification.

Umm, you might want to try to read the OP again -- the Russian says if negotiations are unsuccessful his second tactic is to win a purse bid and says he'll throw massive money at it.

It makes no sense for Wilder's team to take an offer without letting it go to bids, where's he's guaranteed 70 percent ... knowing that the Russian is willing to throw the same money at the fight that he did at Klitschko -- which was $23.3 million. So 70 percent would be more than 16 million.

Who knows, with Haymon on the other side of the bid, it's possible the Russian may go in the high $20M range just to make sure he wins it, but at minimum Wilder would be looking at some $15M or so ... all for just waiting another month or two for the bid process.

The other possibility is that, as has been mentioned, Wilder may instead pursue unification with Wlad next.

As for Povetkin's camp thinking Wilder would be next, go back and read the Boxing Scene report after Povetkin-Perez. His manager or promoter (I'm not sure which is which) said specifically that they didn't think Wilder would be next and they expected to fight again -- against someone besides Wilder -- before the end of the year.

It's a microwave society ... everybody wants everything right now. There's a process here and it's going to play out. Negotiations will be ordered to start by the WBC in October, that goes on I think 30 days (read the WBC rules on their website) and if it doesn't result in a deal then it goes to purse bids.

Is Wilder ready to take it?

The Bronze Bambi is at number 1 at my drug suspects list. A few years ago he fought at 91 kg. Nowadays he is above 100 kg.
