Huge fight of up and comers confirmed. Both undefeated, both huge punchers.

News was in the air, it is now official since the signing of contracts a few days ago and the announcement made this Wednesday night in the news of RTL-TVI, information also developed in the "Paris Match" of this Thursday, January 25: Yes, Ryad Merhy will compete for the WBA World Cruiserweight title in 2018! And more precisely on March 24 in Marseille during a party organized by the company Univent of Sébastien Acariès and supported by Canal +.

As we have heard from December 18, after the expeditious victory of the WBA Intercontinental champion (24 wins including 20 KOs, for no loss) against the American Nick Kisner, Ryad's next opponent Merhy will be the Armenian Frenchman Arsen Goulamirian (22 wins including 14 K.-O, for no defeat), a very strong boxer of 30 years who has not left the Top 3 in the category since June 2016 in the oldest world federation.

This duel for the WBA title win between two unbeaten players who have the sense of the show and the taste for fast work risks, in any case, to talk a lot about him! With the key, for the 25-year-old Brussels, who will prepare in part in Boston (USA), the opportunity to become the first champion of the Belgian men's world of history! A privilege that we recall, refused in the post-war period to Jean-Pierre Coopman (1976), Jean-Marc Renard (1989) and, more recently (2014), to Stéphane Jamoye (twice) and Alex Miskirtchian. Will the sixth time finally be the right one? Answer March 24 ... And in the meantime, go to the DH this Thursday for more information!

I pick Arsen Golumirian in this one. He clearly has more power and has fought against better opponents. Arsen covers up more and has style similar to Gasiev which is effective style. Arsen pressures well and doesn't hang on the ropes. On the other hand Merhy hangs on ropes too much, this could end up bad for Merhy. My final prediction is Arsen by KO.

P.S. They have few opponents in common and I will use them to show the difference in power between them.

    Merhy-Mitch Williams UD over 12 ; Golumirian-Mitch Williams TKO 9

Arturs Kulikauskis TKO 7 ; Arturs Kulikauskis UD over 6 and TKO 3

Toni Visic KO 3 ; Toni Visic TKO 3

No, they will fight for Shumenov's old belt. Lebedev will be back in May or June.

But isn't Dorticos the regular champ and Lebedev the super champion, is the fight for the interim title?

Wait, did they take the belt from Dorticos or did he have to vacate?
