Merhy hails from Côte D’Ivoire and hasn't got a notable amateur background. Ryad Merhy recently stopped Nick Kisner in the 4 round and became first to stop him. With this victory Ryad Merhy defended his WBA Inter-Continental Cruiserweight Title for the third time in a row. So far Merhy has 20 KO's out of 24 fights. Note that Merhy did what Rivas couldn't and knocked out Sylvera Louis in the 6 round. Merhy is 2 in the Nowember WBA ranks.
Here is Merhy's biography: Born in Abidjan of a Lebanese father and mother Ivorian, Ryad discovers Europe from the age of 3 years. Go back to school in Belgium and continue his studies until he was 18 years old. First in Physical Education then in Computer Graphics. This young man is a passionate boxer since he was 14 years old. He discovered boxing thanks to a Manga (Japanese anime drawing): "MAKUNOUCHI IPPO". Since then, Ryad has been training, fighting and traveling abroad to perfect Boxing, a boxing own to him. On March 14, 2010, Ryad become Champion of the Belgian Francophone League in its category. On January 09, 2011, he became Belgian Champion in his category. After his fight of September 29, 2012, Ryad put his quarry between brackets for 8months. After more than a year of absence in the competition, Ryad reappears and wins his last 2 amateur bouts before starting his Pro Boxer career in June 2013.
