Well, gee whiz, I never saw this coming.

Burnett is poor. One of the worst unified champs in a minute.

I don't know about that, Burnett is pretty solid fighter probably the 2nd or 3rd best in the division.

why the hell would he do that lol... he was only going to fight a unproven propect... now vacating the belt he looks like a whimp.. disappointed in him unless he fights McDonnell, or tete this is a dumb move.

Became a big fan of him after last year or so he’s had, winning IBF and then unifying. No idea what they’re planning here but if they stay in the weight you got to wonder why they vacated.

Do they have a difficult mandatory or something? Or are they moving up? Who knows

Well, he certainly hasn't looked like it in the ring, either before or during his title wins (which came against humdrum opposition). There's some raw talent there and he's game enough, but his skillset has a lot of holes and I don't see the extra gear he's going to need to beat the very best guys in the division with that style.

I don't think he's long for any title he holds, unless he holds it hostage. But, if he *is* that good, there's no reason to avoid Zolani Tete in 2018, let alone Rodriguez.

It's been tough for Tete to get those kind of breaks, mainly due to his promoter preferring other guys over him.

The next big fight he'll get will probably be Monster Inoue IMO.

I thought i saw on IFL with Eddie Hearn that there were issues about this and that one of the belts would have to be vacated something about the mandatorys, i cant remember it all properly but Kugan did ask him if vacating a belt was a option and he said we dont want too but if our hand is forced then what can we do.

Ive no idea what the whole situation was just remember something about it in the recent video. I dont think he plans on moving up just yet

    EDIT: Found the link

6:50 is where Burnetts mentioned. They have two mandatorys so obviously by the sounds of things, no agreement was reached.

Holes in his game? Please elaborate?

I'm not suggesting he doesn't have areas he can improve but he doesn't have any obvious weakness. Possibly a lack of one punch KO power but there have been great fighters who lack that attribute.

No way this kid is ducking anybody.
