    Why do fighters even bother competing outside of their own country? I know I know, "for the money" but at this point, they have to know they're selling an L.

    they fight for money. That's the only reason they fight for. Selling an L is sometimes the fastest way to make money for them. That's sad, but that happens a lot. Look at kiko, he has never fought at home because at home he gets paid peanuts so he's obliged to sell the Ls (or suppossedly sell the Ls) to make decent money.
