Cuellar had a WBA belt. After that victory there was only really Mikey Berchelt ranked above him.

At LW it seems the best are all fighting each other but Tank wants nothing to do with it right now.

Interesting how this has turned into a Tank bashing thread.

Tagoe's lateral movement confused Garcia a bit.

Lomachenko would make Garcia look like he's never boxed before.

And now he's resigned with Floyd. So now you think he deserves the criticism I gave him right?

No, you’re talking about two different things that are complementary. Floyd stops him from fighting opponents. Tank is making money and being called a star without risking much. That is Tank moving towards something and Floyd keeping him away from something. It’s mutually beneficial. Tank doesn’t strike me as the smartest guy so I’m sure Ellerbe blowing smoke up him helped him sign where he wanted him to (if he has re-signed). I don’t think Tank is scared of fighting anyone, but he’ll secure his paycheck with less risk if possible. I criticise him for not being the sort of fighter who seeks out the toughest challenges like Canelo and Lomachenko do, but that’s also understandable because Tank is nowhere near that level. Some fighters are masters of their craft, they keep getting better. Tank doesn’t have the intelligence or the reflectiveness to do that. He is what he is.

Cuellar didn't hold a belt at 130. He was a career 126 pounder who lost his previous fight, which was down at 126, and hadn't fought in 16 months and the WBA decided to sanction a fight between him and Twink to contest the vacant WBA super 130 title.

It gets even worse because Twink had lost his IBF title on the scales in his previous fight after failing to make weight and the WBA decided to demote the real WBA 130 champion

'Once the WBA noticed Davis didn’t own another title, it happily sanctioned his fight against Argentina’s Jesus Cuellar as a super world super featherweight title fight.

Cuellar hadn’t fought in the 16 months since Abner Mares edged him by split decision in their WBA world featherweight title fight in December 2016. That didn’t stop the WBA from ranking him as its No. 1 contender at 130 pounds, which is why his fight versus Davis was sanctioned for the title Davis owns.

The other problem was, Machado had already won the WBA’s “super” 130-pound title from Corrales six months earlier. Or so he thought.

Some time after the fact, the WBA strangely informed Machado that he had won its world super featherweight title from Corrales. This, despite that the “world” title didn’t exist in its rankings the month it sanctioned Corrales-Machado and there didn’t appear to be a need for a “super” champion.

The point is, Machado should’ve been the WBA’s one and only champion at 130 pounds once he beat Corrales.

“I don’t know what happened,” said Machado

“This situation is confusing because when I became a world champion, I beat Jezreel Corrales. Jezreel Corrales was the WBA super world super featherweight champion, and I beat him. I beat him by knockout. I don’t know why the WBA made that decision. People still recognize me as the super champion. I am happy because I made my dream come true. I am a WBA champion now. I am getting ready for my third title defense.”

'Machado knocked out Jezreel Corrales in October 2017 to win the WBA “super” 130-pound title. For no apparent reason, the WBA demoted Machado and elevated Gervonta Davis, who is promoted by Floyd Mayweather, to fight for the “super” belt against Jesus Cuellar.'

Machado won the WBA super title by KO'ing the then champ Jezreel Corrales who had won that belt by knocking out the long reigning Takashi Uchiyama who had defended his title no fewer than 11 times. So Takashi Uchiyama was very much the legit champ and The Man of the division

So the WBA demoted the real WBA 130 champion, The Man who beat The Man who beat The Man, sanctioned a fight between Twink, who was beltless after losing his IBF title on the scales because his fat ass couldn't make weight, and career 126 pounder Cuellar who was coming off a loss down at 126 and a 16 month layoff, obviously because someone had greased their palms to pull some strings to give Twink a free title, and after Twink predictably beat him he became their super champion.

Also, to add further fuel to this fire, just to show you how ineffective and fragile Cuellar was above 130. Look at the gruesome dispatching of Cuellar in 2, by Javier Fortuna, who's shown little to no power at 130 and above. Clearly the man wasn't cut out for anything above 126.

Yet here people are mocking Ryan Garcia, for fighting a far more proven LW than Romero and Cruz in Fortuna.

They didn't even look like concussive shots

And a lot of people had Fortuna beating Jojo Diaz who, even though he's a career 126 pounder featherfist who had only stopped 2 of his last 12 and is way naturally smaller and lighter than Haney, is Haney's best win

Yeah, that was just goddamn pathetic, and I fully expected it, Cuellar has always had shaky whiskers, I predicted Mares was going to spank him, when everyone was writing Abner off, and even he managed to drop him. A feather duster could've KHTFO at 130 and above.

For the record, I reflexively always root against Tank and if I can find any possible pathway to victory for his opponents, I'll pick them. Here's what I wrote on the RBR for Davis-Cuellar.:sisi1
The Diaz Fortuna match could've easily been a one point win for Fortuna, the official scorecards were ridiculously biased, at the very best Jojo won 7-5. Jojo barely rattled Fortuna, and he was landing flush all night. Every time Jojo landed clean on Haney, he rocked him to his core. So even though that's completely unrelated..... there's that.:D

 Cuellar probably would've touched down if a fly flew into his face

The whole WBA demoting Machado in order to elevate Twink to super champ after sanctioning him vs career 126 pounder coming off a loss and a 16 month layoff Cuellar for the vacant WBA 130 belt was corruption of the highest order.

The ending of Twink vs Fonseca is too.

Imagine they striped Spence for no goddamn reason in order to give his belt to another welterweight by pairing said welter up against a career 140 pounder who was coming off a loss down at 140 and a 16 month layoff?

Yeah, the cards were a disgrace

Tank is such a big star that even Ryan Garcia threads become about Tank.

Well, we can lay any and all underwhelming matchmaking squarely at Tank's door from here on out. He had the opportunity to cut those apron strings and pursue a meaningful legacy in the sport. Instead, he just played cutesy will-he-won't-he games with the media and opted for stagnation and status quo.

    Figured it had been just another tease when he made these remarks a few days prior to the Rolly fight;
