Ryan Garcia is a puncher with fast hands ... with a fairly average jaw ... he knows how to use his jab and hit sharp goals. pitbull cruz is a peeler with a granite jaw ... his punch is above average ... he is a precision fighter who lands good shots to the body. Who do you favor and why?
so in your opinion, virgil ortiz has an average jaw as well? both got knocked down, both got right back up and took it to their opponent and stopped them. what about loma? him too?
It's a really good fight, and my esteem for Ryan (which is already on an upward trajectory after previously thinking him the most unlikeable of the "four kings" and with the least overall upside) would continue to soar if he actually took Cruz on. If he put on an impressive and dominant performance, Tank's stock would plummet. And if he gets exposed, well, that's one pretender fewer culled. This is a total win-win.
You're misremembering.... even though it seemed like it, Vergil didn't get dropped, he was just badly hurt, but withstood it. That's how damn good his chin is. But I agree, Ryan ate a clean shot that would've most likely KO'd cold many fighters and he hopped right back up from it like nothing happened. I don't think his chin is bad at all. Maybe not titanium, but even if he goes down, he seems to have excellent powers of recovery.
Really? I've always found him the second most likable. Lopez is my favourite of the four, and remains so, but Tank and Haney's personalities (or lack thereof) and out-of-ring activities make them clearly the most unlikable IMO. Although I can completely understand a person who detested all four of them.
thats true, lol. see what baseless narratives can do. dont know why virgil came to mind, besides the fact that too much was made of the punch, like with loma. and countless others. i pointed out before how ryan made a tactical mistake that put him in the perfect position to be hurt much worse than he was. if you watch where hes stepping into lukes power range repeatedly. he should be stepping forward outside of lukes front foot, where lukes power hand doesnt have the angle to catch him without turning himself. ryan is lucky he wasnt hurt worse, even with a great chin. elite fighters dont make such mistakes, but ryan is just developing. just keep an eye on their 2 front feet in relation to lukes left hand, his strong hand. ryan was begging to be put on his ass. I think it was the whole smarmy West Coast playboy/social media darling/thirst-trapping influencer vibe during his initial rise happening to coincide with all this Logan Paul sideshow crap, I sort of lumped it all together in one bull-seeing-red filter of rage. In-ring his speed was always undeniable, and his skill has improved as he continues to step up in class and show heart. So yeah, most of my dislike has dissipated...even if some of the jealousy remains that he could probably tweet a vid of himself sharting the alphabet wearing increasingly brown-flecked tighty whities and still have 5 million girls commenting they want to bear his babies.
Agree, I remember fretting that was going to happen beforehand, but thankfully he learned from that mistake and made the needed adjustment very quickly. Hopefully he won't put himself in that position agan with future opponents, but that's too much to hope for, because like you said, he's young and still developing. Still even making those kind of mistakes, he's smart and is malleable enough to try a different approach, which is a trait possessed usually only by very good to great fighters. Don't feel bad, Drenlou made the same mistake about Vergil a few days ago, and I had to correct him as well. Also, I have a tendency to fixate on narratives and killing them in their crib, especially that one since I'm such an Ortiz fanboy. Also, I use that against Crawford fanboys. Hey... at least Vergil didn't go down like Bud.
This notion that Campbell isn't a puncher is ridiculous He's stopped 16 of his 20 wins These are the four he didn't stop Yvan Mendy has never been stopped in 52 fights Algenis Mendez has only been stopped once in 35 fights Craig Woodruff has been stopped once in 16 fights Chuck Jones has been stopped once in 20 fights And the later two were four and six rounders at the start of Campbell's career and Campbell is bigger, stronger, heavier and hitting harder since teaming up with McGuigan because that's something the later specifically started working on when Campbell enlisted his services Timestamped This content is protected This content is protected Reporter: ''Does Campbell punch hard?''
