Ryan Garcia pulls out of contest with Fortuna

cause i was 22 myself once, and this kids an angel to what i was. and i know my parents would have been prouder if i had been more like him, and less like me. the kids not a criminal, hes not some social misfit, and so far hes handled his part of the business in the ring. i cant find anything to hate him over. im not threatened by his looks, he dont talk half the **** i did at his age, and i understand the fringe benefits that come with being social media famous, which he built himself. what should i be pissed about?

 

Ryan is smart enough to realize that getting concussed week in and week out is bad. He's probably made enough money to get out of the sport. I bet he'll have a few bull**** youtube level fights and be done with it.

This doesn't seem like some Tyson Fury stuff. Fury seems to care about his legacy. Ryan does not.

yeah, but this isnt some grown ass man with the benefit of life experience to tone down the bravado. hes a frickin kid that comes from a pampered home. not rich, but much loved, and hes just feeling his oats.

 

Whatever his problem is, being a social media ***** doesn’t help. He’d be better off getting off every platform and focusing on his craft. Social media is like dope to this new generation. They truly do not realize how ridiculously stupid they look taking pictures of themselves looking at themselves on a phone in a mirror.

 

He just creams over any fake Mexican ("Mexican American")

 

Garcia is a ko waiting to happen & I think he realizes it.

 

First Ryan Garcia fight I was actually looking forward to. Oh well ...

 

Now I've read more about him, what apparently is going on, I actually feel for him.

Must have been a really tough decision to do what he did, especially with his image and the way he speaks and behaves.

Couldn't have been easy for him to be open about his problems and the fact he is struggling.


I wish the young man well.

That fight with Tank would have been a blockbuster... I’ve spoken to so many non-boxing fans and young people in the last few months whose imagination was totally captured by the idea of that fight. Anvils cool quickly but hopefully the interest is still there whenever they decide to get down to it.

Garcia’s a work in progress but he has more “it” factor than anybody since Oscar at least... hopefully he pulls it together and takes those megafights.

 

Lol unless you’re coming back from war or have been seriously abused, “mental health” is just a fad excuse.

similar to adhd. Back in the days they beat you with a ruler and you no longer had adhd.

back at Uni, several of my classmates including myself cited “suffering from mental health” as an excuse for our late work which saved us from the grade penalty. Lol.

It’s so ambiguous and very politically incorrect to challenge it so it’s very easy to get away with it.
