Well the thing is that Davis is 23. Comparing Lomachenko to Davis is like comparing Davis to Garcia, and probably the former is MORE ridiculous.
Davis became a world champion, if he wanted to keep learning he should have stayed fighting contenders instead of the champion, he turned pro the same year Lomachenko is just that Lomachenko took fights that no one would take at that stage of their career.
He had a paper belt for 3 months then lost it on the scales and hasn't fought since. and he is 7 years younger than Lomachenko. You don't go from struggling with Costa Rican journeymen to fighting P4P top-3's for %25 of the purse, anymore than you go from fighting bums on GDP undercards at 19, to fighting Tank Davis. No manager who is trying to build a prospect is that stupid. If you can get a paper belt though, you take it, because the networks will not put you on as a headliner unless you are a champ, and you will make 3x the money. It's simple economics.
Tank Davis is 23 but got the wear and tear of a 32 year old easy. Davis reminding me of Chuck Liddell that guy needs time off. Ryan Garcia has over a decade left in him, can't say the same for Davis. Davis is a great fighter but he'll burn out like F.Vargas
Garcia clapped back today. He said he wants Davis this summer and WILL beat him. And he wants to fight for a title by the end of the year, at 19-20.
Too soon for a young fighter like Garcia. And I get the impression Davis' team knows this. Anything to avoid lomachenko...
