If you're rehydrating 25lbs after the weigh in order so that you have a huge weight advantage over all your opponents, move up in weight and start fighting opponents your own size for once in your life instead of crying big baba tears you massive weight bully.

And if you're having to strip naked to make weight in just your second fight at 140 it proves what a gigantic weight bully you have always been.

Why is that being used as an excuse now

Nobody even mentioned it as an issue prior to the fight, because it wasn't one, even Haney said so, he said it makes no difference.

Now he got whipped that's the excuse being made, instead of the fact he isnt as good at fighting as a barely trained, mentally ill social media star

Ah well, glad the nappy head Haney circus has ended

It's not done for safety reasons - dehydration can make you take a lot more damage.

    Still.

I think it should be both.

Weigh-in as now for whether fight happens.

Weigh-in on the night to decide future consequences.
Even if we allow a bit of leeway for safety reasons, you can still have rules that declare belts vacated if too much over and permanent bans from competing at the weight again if way over.

Realistically, the world has changed and fighters aren't going to risk their health by choosing to fight dehydrated - awareness is better these days, as is regard for personal health.

Regards for opponents health isn't, and understandably so in a combat sport - but that doesn't mean rules shouldn't seek to protect fighters... We already ban rabbit punches, for example, so why do we allow guys to come in way over weight with potentially huge power advantages (okay not the case with Haney, but with how much he inflates, it's a good job he's not a power puncher!!)??

Whatever rules you have, they'll be exploited to their limits - so the tighter the better.

I'm sure it made a great difference. Not because of the 3 lbs, but because he didnt put his body through the strain of massive drain and rehydratation.

Nevertheless, I think that even if it made a big difference it was not the reason why he won.

Same day weigh in is extemely unhelathy and can kill fighters. That's the reason it was removed.

But if the weight advantage wasn't worth the strain, fighters wouldn't boil down at all.

They do, so it clearly is.

I think considering he was clearly smaller in the ring, it maybe offset Haney's usual weightbully advantage a bit, but by my calculations Haney still had more advantage by his normal tricks (within the rules) than Garcia had by boiling a bit less than he could've.

It's a little disgusting to see this kind of bias. When people hate a guy they don't care if he was cheated at all. Even more when they have that mob mentality cause they know others will do the same and follow suit. Yeah Ryan had an advantage. I mean he won on knockdowns and power. He only did himself a disservice cause he might have been able to do it without the extra pounds, like Tank did by draining him.

Boo hoo Haney can't handle 3 extra pounds when hes been 2 weightclasses bigger than most of his opponents.

Garcia coming in three pounds lighter would not have made Haney's chin any better

Aye and guess what Ryan Garcia made no excuses after he lost to Davis even though that weight cut will have effected him a lot. He was high as a kite at the press conference 2 months ago, he's come in and whooped Haney silly don't try to tell me that's all because of 3lbs.

I knew this was coming! Meanwhile Haney has enjoyed a massive size increase in every fight. He probably weighed more than Garcia when they stepped into the ring. The three pounds were a drop in the bucket and had nothing to do with Haney’s glass jaw. He was exposed and will milk his name but he is never going to be a champ again. Look forward to seeing him KOd if he faces anyone in the top five from this day forward. Exposed as a weight bully fraud.

Same day weigh in is safe, it is the boxers and their teams that made it unsafe by dehydrating themselves.

So why didn’t Garcia make the weight and try to win the title?
    It’s all a shambles.
