What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it's relevant or not? Should he be allowed to use this tactic in future fights?
Lots of fighters do this. Even Pac did it a few times against Bradley and Thurman. Measures and maintains distance.
One thing is to measure the opponent or keep their guard occupied for a moment. Garcia was straight up stiff arming Duno. The ref did a **** job. Garcia should not have gotten away with it so easily. It´s a BS move, but if one can get away with it... Yeah, not much to really complain about.
no, youre only allowed to punch with your gloves, you cant hold, push, blind, scrape, or any of that crap.
To be clear, Pac hasn't done it more than once in a fight I don't think... But yeah, I guess if you're like Floyd and do it constantly one the course of a fight...
The ref was right to give him a warning as he kept doing it and did it for long periods. He won't be getting away doing that in his future fights. Reminds me of Audley Harrison although I think he just did it to keep his distance and trying to make sure his opponent couldn;t see him clearly enough to knock him out.
The way Floyd did it and how most have done/do is way different. Floyd would put his glove in you face to mess with your guard or what not. Garcia legitimately stiff armed Duno. Garcia used a lot more force. It was different. It´s a smart tactic and everyone should utilize it, but not the way Garcia did. That was straight up BS. There is bending the rules and then there is breaking the rules.
Only works when you're taller with a longer reach. Wlad loves to do this. Lewis did it, alot. Floyd does this as well, usually put his left in front of the guy then come round with a right hook. I don't remember if MAB got told off for doing this to Hamed. Anyways it's illegal.
