Very impressive. Landed big and then closed the show. Moore was strong and did close the gap real quick. His punches were missing and then he shortened up and it looked destined to be his night then BOOM. Once hurt Moore did not fight smart at all and Rhodes pounced on that. Moore could and should have won but Rhodes showed just why we love boxing. Never count a man out until it's over!
Congratulations Ryan, Dave and team Rhodes on a brilliant performance. Respect to Mooresy and Oliver. Sure you'll come again at Middle. Had to laugh when moorsey told Ryan to **** off when he suggested the Macklin rematch. Thanks lads for a top class fight. Me and the missus were jumpin round the tv:nut. A credit to the game. All the best for whatever route you both take.
What a tremendous fight!!!!, i watched it this morning and i found myself screaming for moore to clinch, clinch, cliiiiiinch in the seventh... i then sat down and remembered the fight wasnt actually playing out at that moment lol, the most enthrawling domestic fight of the year for me!!!!
Just watched this on youtube and what a belter of a fight. hats off to both guys for the best fight this year so far and congratulations to Rhodes. He seems like a sound bloke and deserves his time at the top
Dave i think you deserve massive props for your work with Ryan not just for last nights fight but over the last couple years. Very impressed by your corner work when Ryan was in a hard place you gave him the right advice. Ryan was fantastic last night and showed great grit and determination and i was sad to see a loser but Ryan took his chance clinically and as Jamie said he the better man on the night and both men and the whole build up from everyone involved was a great positive for our sport domestically.
Just as well Ryan listened to you well Dave, Jim Watt was going spare and saying that he couldn't win by engaging with Moorsey and that he should be using his legs to get out of there. Not sure how much of it was tactic or being forced to fight but he showed his toughness and calmness under pressure and picked punches to end it brilliantly. A rare fight where I was off my seat shouting and jumping up and down. Congratulations to both lads and their teams.
Congratulations to Ryan Rhodes. I have always felt that the true mark of a man is how one deals with the adversities life will throw at one. Going into this fight the general perception was that the popular Jamie Moore(deservedly so may I add) was the fighter on the up and the talented Rhodes perhaps seen better days. So happy for Rhodes but gutted for the game and likeable Moore who had clearly improved over the years but ultimately Rhodes proving to a bridge to far. It would be interesting to see how Rhodes does with a world title shot.
The thing that impressed me most about Rhodes was his footwork, he moved laterally, bobbed and weaved like it was second nature to him. Obviously, he drew on his vast experience and is a well schooled boxer, but kudos to his team, he was very well prepared for the task at hand. I too, had Moore down as the potential winner in this, but fair play to Rhodes. I hope he gets his title shot and Moore comes back from this, as I think he has a lot to give yet.
A great, great result for you and Ryan, Dave. Congratulations, and I promise I won't mention Ryan's weightmaking any more. He's ready for another world title shot. He will probably win it.
