Just been watching ringside here in the UK and talking about Ryan Rhodes fight this weekend in Mexico again Saul Alvarez they have been very upbeat and positive on his chances. I cant make my mind up if this was due to him being british or whether these were genuin positive chances to become a world champ, because surely hes seen at this point in his career as an experiance builder for Alvarez?? m kinda sick of Ringside building up to world title fights to then go 'he was so brave but just couldnt do it on the night' kind of stuff, just boring.

if rhodes pulled this off, it would be a major upset. alvarez is still not proven at the elite level but rhodes chances are not good in this fight. i would not put any money on ryan.

Yeah. I was thinking the same. :think

I'm almost tempted in putting £5 on

    1.) Ryan Rhodes WIN by KO round 11 - 66/1@bet365 (£330 win)
    2.) Ryan Rhodes WIN by KO round 12 - 66/1@bet365 (£330 win)

Ryan Rhodes is a decent boxer though and he is undefeated at light-middlweight.

But then it could be just sky making you wanna tune in.

elite level? canelo hasn't even fought an ishe smith, julio, simms, alcine or yuri foreman yet. he's fought career c-level ww hatton and 40-year-old ndou both whom had never fought over 147 before.

the stupidity of some esb bloggers never ceases to amaze me.

if this fight weren't taking place in 6k altitude guadalajara and instead in the uk... rhodes could arguably be the favorite.

canelo has yet to fight anyone at the 154 limit let alone a true 154. and the two aforementioned he never ever hurt or had in trouble.

what do you not understand about this?

Alvarez hasn't fought many, if any southpaws which makes so there are some intangibles. Plus, Rhodes is a good puncher. The biggest thing he has working against him is that he hasn't traveled at all and going to Mexico for your first fight away against a popular fighter like Canelo is tough obstacle to overcome. I like Rhodes chances though more than most. Alvarez matchmaker probably saw that he was KOd twice in the opening rounds and liked that because Canelo is dangerous early, but those KO loses were a decade ago and his chin is pretty good from what ive seen. I think its an interesting fight.

But yeah He is 20 ****ing years old and after this fight people will still talk ****.. This is a great fight for a 20 year old a top 10 LMW and it will legitimize his BELT and he will officially be the LMW of the world.....

and I am glad you say RHODOES coult be the favorite but you blame it on the Altitude.. :patsch so canelo is now the FAV....

actually, since you've been reading my posts, you'll know that i've won money twice on alvarez. i just get a little wound-up when i read idiots that don't know much about the fight game come here and act like they know everything. it s annoying to the handicappers here that bet money. sorry.

there is no way gbp would allow canelo to go into the uk. no way. and its not just the 6k altitude that benefits canelo as he grew up in guadalajara and is accostomed to the humidity and climate. there are food and sanitary issues that rhodes has to deal with here in mexico. this would not be the case in the uk. all these issues factor in when handicapping a fight.

if you look at the fight objectively and if it were to take place in the uk, one could easily make a case that rhodes would be the favorite as this would be the first time that canelo would be fighting in hostile territory.

trust me , odlh is nervous as hell right now as he cannot afford to have canelo lose.

and he(dlh) is agreeing with everything i am saying and not with some of the idiots that post here. he knows this is a very dangerous fight for his prospect and that's why it's taking place in mexico at 6k altitude and not the staples center.

if you think he has any chance of winning drop 100 bones on him, you'll win over 500 and probably closer to 800.

no, you said that this would be a major upset, his chances are not good and that you would not put money on rhodes.

any real handicapper, something that you are not, would never, ever make a play on canelo tommorow night at -1000. the only play here is the +600 on rhodes.

let me educate you on the fight game because obvioulsy you are a little lost.

canelo has only fought two career ww's(do not count baldomir as he came out of retirement on three weeks notice) at 154, both whom do not have power. now that's not bad enough but add the fact that you go from eight ounce gloves to ten ounce gloves when jumping form ww to sww/jmw, you decrease the chances of a lucky punch from a non-puncher even more. look at the history of guys that go from 147 to 154 in the last ten years. you can make a case that tito(possible hand wraps) carried his power but i can think of no one else in the last ten years.

that list includes, but not limited to: dlh, mosely, mayorga, quartey, forrest, margo, etc. only tito has a ko after moving up from 147 to 154.

now do you think that its only a coincedence that gbp has not put canelo in with anyone that could punch at 147 let alone 154?

obviously, the only "dumb-ass" here is someone that cannot acknowledge these facts.

sure, canelo could prove roach, jmm and myself wrong and become the next best thing(i strongly doubt this) but to say that this would be a huge upset is something no one, including dlh, would say as this would make them appear to be a "dumb-ass."

by the way, do these guys look like they flew half-way around the world if they thought rhodes chance were "not good"?

    www.fightnews.com/Boxing/alvarez-rhodes-update-87269

in case you didn't know, everyone of those guys in his entourage has a purpose; whether that being to make sure that rhodes water and food are clean(guadalajara, like all of mexico with the exception of monterrey, has no potable water) to the safety of his living arrangements and providing transportation.

this is a real 154 fighter coming to fight that has proven power with 10-ounce gloves.

to say rhodes chances in this fight are not good is pretty much just a "dumb-ass" statement.

by the way," dumb ass" as you wrote is either spelled dumb-ass or dumbass.
