I think Rhodes had every intention of fighting Small - as you have said, why bother signing the contract and attending pressers - especially with a dickhead like that.
you think so? been checking the odds around various places and the closer it gets the more of a favourite appleby seems to be i thought at the start that lindsay would shock him and beat him 9-3 or something like that but theres a reason why there arent too many poor bookies adam booth has some belief in martin all the same. both are going to bigger things than a british title fight in the future imo.....
I think people are picking Lindsay because Appleby has been frustrated by boxers before.... but on the flipside Lindsay was being embarrassed by Derry Matthews before the one punch KO! I'm leaving this one!
I don't rate Appleby too highly but I've heard lots of good things about him and sometimes I come across fighters who don't tick my boxes stylistically but are still good fighters Micheal Ayers for example. Personally I think he beats Lindsay too. Apparently he has been doing very well in sparring with some excellent fighters. As for Rhodes, I can't help but give him a break on this one. Small seems very keen to potray himself as a gobshite. Rhodes is coming back from illness so I don't really blame him for having a warm up match. Plus he's a good guy and not an in your face mouthpiece. Small as talented as he may prove to be needs to think before he speaks or he's going to end up with no one to appreciate his talent.
I do. Lindsay is a tidy fighter, and IMO Appleby isn't all that he is made out to be. If Lindsay can apply consistant pressure I think that Appleby will crack. :deal
I think that thats nail on the head. The one thing that fighters with ambition cannot afford to be is frustrated, and Appleby seems to get that way when things are not going as planned.
thats a cacking avatar pic mate, i'm from huddersfield. and i agree, **** small. ryan was ment to have a chest infection or something and didnt want to fight him unless he was 100% fit so he could fight his best fight and there could be no excuses whoever lost. good on him, i dont blame him.
To be fair Icemax.... He was facing a guy in Esham Pickering who was only there to survive, but he did look sloppy at times. On the plus side he recognised this in his post fight interview... looking pissed off and admitting that he did get frustrated. Sam1222..... I'm with you on Rhodes.... a cold would knock the **** out of your training for the best part of two weeks.... generally ill for 5 days or so then a week getting your energy levels back up - bearing in mind how fitness can slip really quickly I feel he made the correct call.
He had the same look of frustration and desperation when Simpson started to pose him problems in their fight late on. He is young, and he isn't very experienced but a British champ should have at least a plan B and be able to execute it when called upon.
I honeslty think Appleby moved up to soon. The guy has serious potential but has been managed poorly.
ur not wrong there all gilmour was goin on about in the interview yesterday was how much money appleby was gettiin how it was the biggest payday
