Form Excited to hear that Sheffield's 34 y/o Ryan Rhodes will be taking on 20 y/o Saul Alvarez for his WBC Lt Middleweight title. If Rhodes is in the kind of form he showed against the very tough Jamie Moore it could be one hell of a tussle. Rhodes is getting on though and this might be the fight where Father Time catches up with him. That being said, I would expect Ryan to provide a reasonably stiff test for the young Mexican at the very least. Hatton was game and well-schooled, but there was a lack sting in his punches and he looked a little frail compared to young, rugged Alvarez. Rhodes scores better on both counts. Prediction: Rhodes to win by late TKO
We will know in the 1st couple of minutes , if for some reason Rhodes freezes it could be very painful. But I think he has beaten better men than Saul and Moore certainly hit harder. For Rhodes to win he cannot take any rounds off. I always go with my head and money. Rhodes loses by UD. Something similar to when he lost to Locket , could win , but doesnt do enough.
Decent enough opponent for Canelo at this stage...it just doesnt sit well with me that he can lay claim to being a world champ.
We'll See....Remember, styles makes fights. Rhodes is a southpaw (I think). And I don't think that "Canelo" has faced a southpaw (at the elite-level). This will be a good test of how well he can switch/adjust to the awkwardness of a Lefty.
what is Rhodes bigest win to this date, i dont see big names in his resume. fighting in guadalajara he is gonna have to kill canelo to win that fight.
I remember back in the 90's Rhodes was hyped as the next big thing, I felt he was rushed way to quick and thrown in the deep end in word title shots. He has matured now but I dont think he is gifted physically as he once was.
I like el canelo, but they are overrating him too much and moving himup too fast. I dont mean by the quality if his opponents, but neither Alvarez nor Rhodes are championship material. Should be an evenly matched fight.
