Saunders is a top level fighter at his best, as anyone who has coached, sparred or fought him confirms. He beats basically everyone at 160/168 outside of Golovkin/Canelo. People give him a hard time for the Canelo fight but he did better against this PED tank Canelo than anyone outside of Golovkin and Kovalev. I don't know why people don't understand that Canelo was on massive roids for that fight. He smashed Saunders' face with ONE punch. Saunders has never been down or KO'd. He is tough. He's been hit by decent/big punchers like Gorilla and Lee and Lemieux(who did catch him) and also took a lot from Eubank Jr who has decent power. And he got stopped with one punch by a former LMW. I mean, it's just not normal folks. All things being equal substance wise, Saunders beats Canelo on points. Why? Canelo wouldn't have the power to stop him or pose the threat he did and he wouldn't have the gas tank to keep up after halfway.
Even if Lemieux had faster hands, which I’m not sure about. Lemieux has T. rex arms and slow feet and really is a 1 trick pony. Murata is an Olympic gold medalist and has much better variety and length + a good ticker. Murata probably grinds BJS in to dust
Saunders from Andy Lee and Lemieux fights wins a close, competitive decision. The one at SMW, also wins the early rounds but Murata gets closer and lands more in each round, slows him down with body shots and eeks out the decision himself.
It carries clout, only In rare accasions does a Gold medal not lead to boxing success. Andrew Maynard being one, and a couple tall heavyweight boxers from England didn't amount to much either.
BJS has no output compared to the Brant or GGG that fought Murata. Murata would edge a decision with the better shots and constant aggression imo. BJS would do 100 laps and cuddles Rigo style instead of taking a risk to win at this stage in his career.
He just got a gold medal, he showed nothing special and would just plod forward in a high guard and punches that hit him wouldnt count due to the amateur punch scoring and them just hitting his forearms. Murata's best career win is Rob Brant or *washed* Hassan Ndam
He destroyed Rob Brant who is probably as good as Andy Lee, he also destroyed Ndam as well. Andy Lee lost to Brian Vera and Chavez Jr, both pressure fighters.
