I'm happy to report that after the debacle in December*, where he was on the wrong end of probably the worst robbery of 2017**, which officially put him one loss away from the .500 club***, Garrido has rebounded with a W. He fougnt Jean Moraiti last Saturday and dominated en route to a unanimous decision to capture the vacant French 140lb title. A true fighting champ, he plans on making his first defense less than six weeks later, on March 30th. He is also enjoying success on the domestic front, coaching his son & successor to some very fine technical form. He deserves a lot of credit for being one of the few guys that stood and traded shots with and somehow inexplicably managed to go the distance with Cletus Seldin. Not only did he just survive, but held his own, went toe toe with and pushed Seldin to the brink. Unlike the Cowardly Lion of Quebec, who did just run, let's be honest. This content is protected
^ the little scamp in the OP, if he sticks with it through adulthood, will be at least a 3rd-generation pugilist, it turns out. This content is protected Rénald's father and uncle both fought, in the amateurs. "It is with great emotion that I find by my uncle one of the few memories of my father's short career in the photo at 20 years of age in 1979, the Double Champion of Champagne-Ardennes. 26 fights, only 1 defeat, very good technician and hard to touch; he was fighting in the lower weights but was confined to regional boxing because freshly arrived from Portugal he could not participate in the French Championships and shortly before my birth gave up boxing and the idea to participate in qualifications for the Olympics This content is protected On the picture there is also my uncle Luciano, Djamel Kerouani and the Frères brothers #Châlons #En #Champagne #Garrido #Family #Portugal #France #boxe Châlons-en-Champagne" Interesting that Garrido is actually of Portuguese heritage. I never found his given or surname to be very French-sounding but would've guessed if anything his family hailed from some part of Spain. Uncle Luciano, btw, has been a football coach (FC Schmit) and volunteer youth worker/boxing coach in Châlons for thirty years. Can't find any info about his record, though.
