wow i expected sultan to be eager to get back in the ring again and prove he's better then the showing against wlad... disappointing but hopefully he enjoys his vacation i guess
He is not getting any younger now. IMO, he should fight again by November/December to position himself back in the picture for another run at the belt in 2009
Hey, I translated that as "the purple ship sails at midnight."... I'm an Ibragimov fan (one of four or five?) but I think he might be finished. He had a nice run but I don't see taking a year off then coming back at a high level. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we never hear from him again.
I don't hate fighters, but Sultan is close. I will never look at him the same for being the main reason for the unification stinker. What a cocksmoke...
Remember when people used to hype him as this Tyson-esque killer on ESB back in the day? About how he was all offense, and gonna destroy all comers. Much like the hype Diaconu is getting, as some kind of destroyer and savior. Ibragimov is ****, and soon we will see that Diaconu is as well.
This is a ridiculously stupid move. 1. He didn't take much damage in his last fight. 2. He's at a vital point in his career age-wise. 3. Activity against easy competition is what's gotten recent championship losers back in the hunt. 4. A new batch of heavyweights are trying to emerge but haven't yet (easy to cut them in line right now for a big fight). 5. He already took a break during his last fight.
Not sure who they were, but to some degree, his style changed DRAMATICALLY. He went from being a bulldawg to some sort of random, sit back counterpuncher with Mayweather.
His next opponent HAS to be ranked in the top 10 by any of the 4 major sanctioning bodies. That's in his tv contract.
He disgraced himself and the sport with his refusal to engage against Wlad. Had he came out banging he could have got an early KO/TKO.
I agree. It would have good sense for him to get right back in the ring, lose Mayweather as his trainer and make another run. He still beats 90% of the heavyweights out there right now. It's a real shame we didn't get to see the old, aggressive Ibragimov against the top guys.
Any idea on how much he made vs Wlad? I'm guessing he probably got a career high payday by a wide margin (even with the crappy performance), so he probably doesn't have to fight until he's ready so long as he's smart with his money.
