Last time I checked, Ryan Garcia didn't come up in the same weight classes as Canelo for most of his career. Last time I checked, Ryan Garcia doesn't walk around at the same weight Canelo does now.

Obviously it's not just being taller or having a longer reach. Jermell Charlo adressed size and weight in this interview :

FYI Jermell says he's the BIG Charlo, he got punching power, he got lateral movement, and he's a general just like Canelo is. These are two ring generals. What's not to like? You're a loser for trying to discredit or detract from this fight. This is a great fight. Look at all them titles on that stage. These are two of the most accomplished fighters in the sport, two legends who came up in the same weight class who fans have been wanting to see fight for well over a decade.

This is a dream matchup and I just can't wrap my head around how anyone can possibly hate on this fight, call it meaningless, make excuses about the weight, do anything to just be a total sour puss about this. Your whole crybaby act is lame. Stop crying and just enjoy the fight.

Charlo is a big boy. Let's see if he can work this to his advantage. Pretty excited for this one, been an excellent year for boxing.

I think you should give a flying **** because this is a major event. As big of a boxing fan as you are, you would be missing out if you dismiss this matchup. Also the undercard is shaping up nicely which is great for boxing. Using extreme examples that involve far greater weight disparities and trying to equate that to Charlo Canelo is just not believable. You're better than this CST. Don't get pulled down by trolls like Bustamove or Lancy Pants. They are notorious Canelo haters and cannot be taken seriously. I know you have issues with Canelo and Charlo apparently but your personal feelings about a fighter should not get in the way of what is without a doubt the biggest and most significant matchup of the year by a mile and and possibly of our lifetimes. An event of this magnitude with historical significance cannot be understated or devalued.

A bloated out of shape mess? Jermell Charlo?? This is a guy who's been making 154 consistently for 12 years!!! He obviously stays in shape year round. You're acting like he's James Toney or something!! Jermell is a very disciplined fighter in and outta the ring. His brother is another story but Jermell is not one to blow up in weight between fights or in any scenario, and especially not this one which means everything to him.

That's exactly how I feel about party poopers like Bustamove or Lancy Pants trolling this board trying to detract from this fight or pretty much anything Canelo is involved in. It's pathetic and it drags down the sport!! Canelo and Charlo are giving us a Dream Fight. They are elevating boxing and there's nothing at all to be crying about!

A dream fight between a JrMW and Spr MW , who fought at LtHW (Where YOU Said he beat the #1 LtHW at the time....) and tried to challenge CW's at a catchweight. And you had the gall to say Charlo was CLEARLY the bigger guy between the two.

Now you claim Canelo is a SMALL SprMW. You're all over the place in bad defense....

 

I see these dishonest comparisons, the other’s being Devin Haney or Fundora, and people are picking these guys knowing full well they are far smaller than Jermell Skeletally.

David Tua, Mike Tyson, and Errol Spence are all 5’10. Yet two are stocky heavyweights, the other’s a 147lb’er. If me and you have the same skeleton (length and thickness), you are only “bigger” than me when you weigh more, once I weigh the same as you we are the same size. But Spence could try his mightiest to carry 200+lbs and he’d just be an overblown dwarf with a small head and small hands next to David Tua and Mike Tyson. This isn’t the case here. Jermell is as big as Canelo, but longer. And we’ve seen plenty of guys beat fighter’s 20lbs bigger without the big advantages in length Charlo has.

Jermell has already stated he’s 168lbs+, and we’ve seen the pics, he’s not chubby, he’s solid muscle.

As a currently fairly solid 180ish lb, 6’0 individual, you think that if I go on a bird food diet of seeds and nuts, fruits and portions of lean meat to make 154, that I’m a 154lb’er? Hell, If I’m strict enough I could probably make 147. Only reason I, or Charlo for that matter, can make these weights and still have strength is due to the modern weigh-in regulations with 36+ hours of rehydration. Does anyone here really think Charlo can make 154 in a same day weigh-in? How about Canelo at SMW? Skeleton = size. Weight is not a factor in this fight.
