Charlo is taller but his Frame isn't acclimated to 168 like Canelos is, charlos going to lose speed and quickness for sure as he bulks up to 168. Around the 4th round its going to turn into a one sided beatdown.

    Preach!!!

Kid might walk around 168 but fighting at 168 is BRAND NEW for this baby Lion.

Bet the house on the under as Big Red going to pull a little puppet kill on this cat.

I've seen some idiots here state 'walking around weight' is their natural weight and should be fighting there.

Well it's certainly "tedious" trying to talk some sense into you and dispel myths about weight that don't apply. You're not bringing good energy here, you're trashing this fight and whining constantly about irrelevant BS, when we should be building this up into something spectacular. You keep saying it's a JrMW vs a Super MW. Canelo and Charlo came up as JrMWs and fought most of their career as JrMWs. Canelo moved up because he couldn't keep making 154 like Jermell. Some fighters outgrow weight classes, other fighters don't. It's as simple as that.

I'm not all over the place. This was all addressed by both Canelo and Jermell at the press conferences. You're just ignoring it for some reason and trying to spin a narrative. Canelo IS a small SMW.

On coming in under 168 or at the limit :

His trainer wants him to weigh in at 164 or 165, but Jermell sounds like he's not gonna come in light. He says "if I'm lighter, I'm lighter, but I'm not gonna go try to stress myself out and dehydrate myself if I don't have to."

There's an interesting dynamic shaping up that his trainer wants him to come in lighter like around 164 or 165 to maintain his speed but Jermell seems to think he could come in close to 168. But in the end we just don't know how he's gonna come in. I tend to agree with his trainer that he should come in a little light like 164 or 165 to maintain his speed. He doesn't need to bulk up, he won't have to worry about cutting weight on fight week but it could make all the difference to come in lighter. Fighters often make the mistake when moving up to put on as much weight as possible, and it usually ends bad. If Jermell was smart he should listen to his trainer and come in lighter, don't bulk up and retain his speed advantage.

1st round KO for Canelo unless he carries him.

Biggest mismatch this year. Thankfully it isn't on ppv.

Canelo 160 to 175 for Kovalev, no acclimatisation
Canelo 154 to 164 for Chavez, no acclimatisation
Pacquiao 112 to 122 for Jamili, no acclimatisation
Pacquiao 135 to 147 for Oscar, no acclimatisation
Roy Jones 175 to 200+ for Ruiz, no acclimatisation
Toney CW to HW for Holyfield, no acclimatisation
Hopkins 160 to 175 for Tarver, no acclimatisation
Inoue 108 to 114 for Narvaesz, no acclimatisation
Spinks 175 to 200+ Larry Holmes, no acclimatisation
Hearns 160 to 175 for LHW title, back down for MW title, no acclimatisation
The great Broner 135 to 147 for Malignaggi, no acclimatisation
Armstrong 135 to 147 for Ross, back to 135 for Ambers, back to 147 for Garcia, within a 6 month period, no acclimatisation
Charles LHW to HW for Maxim(over 20lb difference x2), no acclimatisation
A lot of the Heavie’s Charles fought were well over 20lbs heavier than him, But people want to complain about Charlo vs Canelo who’ll be outweighed by what? 5-10 lb’s? Will he be outweighed at all?

Smaller jumps like Pacquiao vs Barrera, Crawford vs Horn, Jones vs Toney, Griffith vs Tiger, Mayweather vs Oscar and whoever else went straight up to the champion, no acclimatisation.

Also, everyone gets slower putting on more mass (unless they were negatively affected by the weight cut prior or weren’t training as hard). Doesn’t matter if Charlo spent 5 years at 168 before fighting Canelo, he’d still be slower than he was at 154. Canelo is also slower. These are just natural effects of being heavier.

Charlo does not “walk around” at 168, unless he walks around in fight shape. If Canelo, Lara, Angulo, Ali, Trout, Smith, Munguia on fight night are 168-170+lbs(well over 170 for some of these guys) at LMW, Jermell has got to be around the same, I’ve seen him next to Lara and he was far bigger than Lara.

Though I’ve never seen his fight night weight. Only Jermall, who used to come in around 170lbs at JMW.

I quoted the wrong post. Apologies.

And Lara's been fighting at MW for over 2 years now. What does that tell you?
