The Ted Sanders win over Alex Ramos was a great shout. Ramos' handlers didnt do their research on Sanders because he was an incredibly stout customer who was chiseled out of rock and gave lots of good fighters all they wanted. The last round and change is on an ESPN highlight show on YouTube and Sanders just beat Ramos into the ground. No lucky one shot from the rafters. Ramos tired himself out trying to kayo Sanders and then got chopped down like a flimsy tree.

Convinced to this day that Sanders ducked out of the rematch last minute because he was told to lose or else by the folks behind the Duvas. He beat Ramos down so convincingly, no way he was scared of losing a rematch. Shady business there, I'd bet.

Cotto was supposed to easily beat Antonio Margarito but ended up quitting on his knees from the shellacking Margarito gave him. No one told him Margarito didn't know the meaning of the word QUIT!!!!!!!

I agree. Miguel had to change something after the fight, hence he got tattoos. For margaritos part he took too much slander. I read somewhere s his wife left him? I would never wish that on Tony. Keep being in his corner, he needs fans like you, that care. Say what you want to say about him but 3 things. 1 he's a tough hombre 2 de la Hoya didn't want no part of him 3 dude was awesome to watch, fascinating!!! And we all know he'd be willing to die in the ring, that's a Margarito thing.

Duran - Laing is surely worth a mention.

Duran was already scheduled to face Tony Ayala a little over 2 months later. Laing was supposed to be a formality. King abused Duran and his handlers after the fight.

Ring magazines "Upset of the Year".

I don’t know if he was necessarily a sacrificial lamb (the premise shares common ground with upsets absolute) but perhaps Galindez vs Rossman 1 semi fits.

I haven’t watched it in a long time but at least in the first fight, it appeared Rossman employed a stylistic advantage approximating to that which Zhang enjoyed over Joyce - a systematic, can’t miss, pounding.

Otherwise, in the very close but no cigar category, “perhaps” come backing Ray Leonard vs club fighter Kevin Howard is a nice fit. Also haven’t seen that one in a long time - was the stoppage considered a bit premature at the time? I have a vague recollection that it was.

Anyway, it gave Ray sufficient cause to put himself on ice for another 3 years before his next comeback……

Worse part is Mike that ridiculous "loaded gloves" accusation cost him his career & good name. The CSAC had nothing to indict him on, the wraps were proven harmless by an independent lab. So being the state commission they refused to return his boxing licence. He was out of the ring for over 2 years couldn't even train.. The ruling was They SUSPECTED he MAY have tried to load his gloves. Where was the US law " A man is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" What Margarito had was a kargaroo court. We think you may be guilty so you must have been. Yes Michelle messed around on him to boot. We all know Floyd was scared of him like Oscar This gave them the ideal excuse not to have to fight him

Yeah I was in Ft Worth Tx in those days Dave Gorman seemed to have a knack of finding fighters who would upset the applecart Stevie & Gene Mad Dog Hatcher Ko ing Johnny Bumphus. too I'll never forget Lou Duvas face when Gene's left hook landed !!! He was having a hissy fit " You done it too me again Gorman" !!!!!! lol

Orlando Salido had a knack for being a sacrificial lamb and then derailing fighters such as Vasyl Lomachenko and Juan Manuel Lopez.
