Even if Ali and SRL had never existed, Angelo Dundee would have done enough good work to be considered a great, great trainer.

He trained ATG's like Napoles and Luis Rodriguez, and turned inconsistent but talented boxers like Ralph Dupas, Willie Pastrano, and Jimmy Ellis into champions. Dundee did a lot of good work in his career, and deserves every single bit of praise he received.

He was one of the greats and he will be missed.

    RIP

He was the Freddy Roach of his day, an extremely overrated trainer. Nonetheless, R.I.P.

In the 8O's era of boxing he will be remembered for his potent words to SRL inbetween rounds in the first Hearns fight....... "You're blowing it kid, you're blowing it!"

    RIP MR. Angelo Dundee

    Terrible news.

From Muhammad Ali, to Sugar Ray Leonard, to George Foreman, to Oscar De La Hoya.
IMO no trainer/cutman/advisor has ever had more initiative.

    R.I.P
