My gym was run out of a basement of a closed down school. The gym and an apartment was donated to my coach from the new owner. The bad side is he is a cheap drunk and won't heat the school. Here in Maine, at this time alone it gets to about 10-20 degrees at night, and a high of about 40 during the day. This made my coach fed up and is closing the gym. He plans on reopening in a different location with a partner, not too much farther away. The only problem is he is Hoping to open in a month, but he really has no idea. that leaves me with a bunch of time to get almost no boxing time in. He said we can get together and work the mitts as much as possible, and maybe once in a while go to a gym an hour away and get some sparring and a little bag work in. What really sucks is i was planning on getting my first fight soon.

whoa, longest post of mine ever...

Aw man! That really bites. I'm sorry.

Stay in shape, do plenty of shadowboxing and get together with you coach to do mitts and take any chance at sparring in the mean time.

I hope it works out for you, I was looking forward to hearing about your first fight.

Harsh man , keep up the training , you know what you need to do. Try getting involved to and help your coach get the new place up and running he might appreciate that. Then when your sorted pick up where you left off.:good Goodluck

yea, i plan on getting into really good shape in this little break. Ive been looking at this positvly too:

    1) There is a personal trainer that my coach is friends with(with a lot of money) who is interested in teaming up with him. so we will most likely get all new equipment, heat in the winter, a/c in the summer.

    2) This will give me plenty of time to get a lot of conditioning done, and when the new gym opens, all i need to do is perfect my techniue as much as possible, then start knocking out some people :)

    3) I'll be even more hungry when i get back. I will practicly live in the gym. I will go to school, and when im not working, ill be in the gym. Its gonna be great.

And dont worry Amy, my fight will be in the works after the new gym opens. if all goes well it will be opened in a month. And u will all get video of my victory :)

Or big space heaters would be better, but w/e. Just stay and shape and stay hungry!

the room is pretty big and it will take a lot of those and a long tim for those to heat the room. Besides, those things arent too cheap right? but that doesnt amtter anyway, im pretty excited for wht the new gym will be like.

my gym has one fan heater (although a very powerful one) and it heats the gym up in minutes.
