Hope it's OK to post this - just saw it on another site and thought it worthy of posting: Richie was a great guy World Boxing News Cameraman Richard Davis Dies Sun 28-Dec-2008 09:38 .standardPadding { padding-top:5px; } This content is protected This content is protected RIP Richard Davis javascript is required for popup windows and image manipulation This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected By Paul Upham: A constant smiling face at Australian professional boxing matches wherever they were held around the country, popular cameraman/photographer Richard Davis died on Sunday afternoon at his Sydney home after suffering a severe heart attack. 45 year-old Davis had experienced a stroke a few weeks ago in November and was rushed to hospital and fitted with a pacemaker. Doctors expected him to make a full recovery at the time. Davis died doing what he loved, editing boxing video film that he had recently shot before Christmas. With his good friend Tim Barry, the duo made a formidable recording team whether it be on video or film. While he shot film for a number of boxers and promoters, Davis would attend as many boxing events that he could just to be around the boxers and fans. He loved nothing more than being ringside at a big fight night recording the events not just inside the ring, but all of the things behind the scenes that the viewers at home would never see. Never one to put himself ahead of anyone else, Davis was a kind and generous man who was content to remain in the background behind his viewing lens. Richard Davis will be sorely missed by his many friends in Australian boxing. SecondsOut joins them in passing on our deepest sympathies to the Davis family. I was deeply saddened to read this, Richie was a good mate and a boxing man through and through. He was always ready with a smile and would help anyone at the drop of a hat. I had some great times during and after the fights with my mate and ringside will be empty without him. I also feel for the other half of the dynamic duo; Tim Barry, they were great mates and loved getting up to mischief afterwards. RIP Richie I'll miss you - KIA KAHA!!
A brilliant guy SMF and I could not agree more: far too young - he was only 6 years older than me for ****s sake!
Plainly a case of rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated! ....glad to hear he's still with us.
CHB... Full Marks for the comment... False reports and facts are so sordid.... never the Twain shall meet....
