Sadly, the end is nigh for Hatton.

You would admit that Hatton gives any version of Tsyzu fits though?

Tszyu seemed to love getting into a scrap though - his skills ought to have taken this element away. He was pretty robotic at times, but was underrated in this regard, especially by Judah, who took the **** out of him at every opportunity pre-fight......

Hopkins is an extremely wily fighter, perhaps as clever as any fighter since Ali - the guy doesn't even need a trainer IMO, he can just fight in accordance with what the opponent tries to bring.

Calzaghe is similar in truth, albeit not as good.

Of course. Vince Phillips did the same thing in a less physical way. Hatton took that to another level. I'm not even talking about Tszyu in a faded sense here, he was always vulnerable to that kind of work. Maybe he was faded too which made it look even worse in there, but this was a chronic failing for him that Hatton could have always exposed.

That would never ever happen to Hopkins even aged 43 and he poses all kinds of different problems. He ain't going to knock you out like Tszyu, but as far as defence, ring craft, dirty infighting, and posessing an overall difficult forumla to counter Hopkins was just as elite. And at the end of the day...Hopkins is going to be remembered as the greater fighter BY FAR over Tszyu on resume.

I don't buy that Tszyu is a much greater win all things considered, regardless of where he was ranked at the time. Hopkins has been chronically underrated to the extent he has always been a betting underdog.

    I would agree here.

Even if you beat Hopkins you would look awful doing it.

He can make people stop doing their thing without them even realising.

Try and find a gameplan to beat Hopkins. It is very very difficult to do. Even if you do somehow manage it, it will be contested. I don't think you could do what Hatton did to Tszyu even if he was 65 years old. Infact a Hatton type approach against Hopkins is probably the worst thing imaginable.

The age is a red herring too. When people tot up his best wins I think you'll find Tarver and Pavlik hovering in or around the top 5 and look how old he was...

good speedy boxers can give him trouble.

the 2 best speed guys he fought were jones jr and taylor.

    he lost all 3.

and all 3 boxed cagey and let there sharpness of punch tell.

calzaghe also had speed over hops. :bbb

although calzaghe could never be described as cagey. :yep

Prime Jones is prime Jones. He's a freak of nature. That's not exactly a gameplan for beating him, mortals can't even think about replicating that.

I don't think Taylor ever beat him, he got gifts wrapped in HBO paper. Either way it was controversial like I said.
