I would really be interested to see the details of the offer Hatton turned down from Witter's people. No? Didn't think so! Cos if you want a fight with somebody that bad, that's what you do - put an offer in. Not mouth off with press releases aboout how you'd fight him for free which are solely designed to try and make people take notice of you. Hatton has fought Tszyu, Castillo, Mayweather, Malignaggi and (it seems soon to be) Pacquiao. Who gives a stuff about Witter? Hey, I hear Victor Hugo Castro is up for a rematch...
this is riduclous, the ****in kostay tyszu ricky dominated has more power then witter, and no witter wouldnt outbox hatton not with that 1 paced 10 punches per round style of his his he's had for the best part of his career.
Another fight with PBF will be an execution. No doubt. Pacman should also beat Hatton up especially the way Pacman's style has evolved. The only chance Hatton has is to lure Pacman into a war of attrition like Benn versus McClellan. I think Pacman is to smart for this but could most likely prevail in such a shoot out.
The key to any Pac Hatton match-up is Pacs speed. If Hatton can slow Pacman down he wins. The best way to slow an opponent down is by going to the body early, and Ricky Hatton has one of the best body attacks in world boxing.
Hatton beat a good run of journeymen and fringe titlists as a prospect (Tackie, Oliveira, Phillips, Magee, Stewart, all reputable fighters) then beat a great champion Kostya Tszyu by knockout. He unified the division by knocking the **** out of the other titlist, Maussa, then moved up a division and fought another titlist, Collazo, at 147lbs. He lost to Floyd Mayweather at 147lbs, who was the P4P no.1, but has since beaten the consensus no.1 contender at 140lbs. So, he's dominated the 140lbs division for nearly 4 years, lost once at 147lbs to the P4P no.1, but made a comeback and looked good in the process. Yet people critisize the man's balls? If he lacked balls he'd have fought Junior Witter, instead he's fought Tsyzu, Mayweather and now Pacquaoi. That's more elite fighters than Joe Calzaghe ever fought. Some of you need to get real and accept the Hitman's greatness.
the problem with that is pacmans speed is gonna catch ricky coming in everytime and his shots are gonna slow hatton down, i think ricky is going to be destroyed against pacman
Outside of Old Man Hopkins and The Ghost of Roy Jones, who were barely elite at their ages, who has he fought? Mikkel Kessler, Jeff Lacy and Chris Eubank weren't top fighters like Mayweather, Tszyu and Pacquao. Tszyu was top 5 p4p, Mayweather and Pac consensus no.1, Calzaghe never fought anyone near that.
Hopkins is far more elite than that version of Tszyu irrespective of age. You really see Hopkins simply getting wrestled and mauled and then quitting? Not in a million years, its impossible. Hatton lost to Mayweather horribly. It was not even competetive like people think, and then even more shockingly he got his ass KO'd bouncing off the ring post against a guy coming into the fight without much form for being a puncher at 147. Same is going to happen against Pacquiao, he will be outclassed. Getting your ass whooped does not help things greatly even if it is against the #1. They whooped 30-40 other guys too.
Talk about a one-sided post! Trouble is, there isn't much evidence to prove you are talking from your ass. The version of Tszyu wasn't as bad as people say IMO, he still gave Ricky a great fight but was simply out-willed. I think we have debated the Hatton vs Floyd fight at length........ I felt it was competitive for six (Ricky wasn't winning despite Lederman's scorecard atsch) though following that it was a bad beating. Him against Pac.... I'm not so sure. Size isn't an issue, after all they are pretty much the same size. I would say though that Hatton hasn't ever looked good against a quality southpaw, but Manny hasn't beaten a quality, live opponent above 130 - haters might even argue 126 given that many felt MAB and EM were shot and that he lost to JMM in the rematch........... 50-50 affair.
That couldn't be further from the truth. Ref 1. - Tszyu gets outhustled against Vince Phillips, setting the blueprint. Ref 2. - Tszyu gets outhustled and outmuscled against Pieboy, and quits. Number of times Hopkins has been bullied - Zero. Way too strong and way too crafty to get caught up in that type of fight. Hopkins was just as elite if not more so, in a different way that brings different problems.
