He's seems to hold his own against the top heavyweight and can get rid of the lower echelon fighters.

Is it safe to say he's consummate heavyweight gatekeeper?

Not sure I could call him the gatekeeper. Those are usually for EX champs that can no longer best the top fighters.
Imho, takam is a journeyman who got lucky with pulev pulling out. He no longer need yo w fight and knowing he can't compete with the belt holders he'll disappear, imho

I don't think you can call him a gatekeeper 0.0. 90% of the people on here got him on there top 10 lists forheavyweight... if your top 10 surely you can't be a gatekeeper?

He isn't a gate keeper lol.

A gate keeper gives prospects a good run not arguably some of the best few heavyweights currently going around..

He would have to be in side the top 10...

Only lost to Joshua, Povetkin and Parker. All of them are top 5 contenders.

He's a legitimate contender. He gave Parker, Povetkin and Joshua good stiff fights and I think he could beat Wilder. He's nobody's cupcake.

A gatekeeper has to prove he can close the gate on legitimate not-quite-there contenders.

On whom did he slam the gate? Frans Botha or Tony Thompson, who were both well past it when he fought them?

No, he has to beat some decent people. Just losing to top people means he’s not championship caliber. It doesn’t mean he can separate others who aren’t at that level from those that are.

He’s just a durable journeyman at this point.

Funny thing is Takam is way better than Tony is at this point.

It was 8 years ago. Enough time to improve at anything.

He's a high level gatekeeper, a sort of measuring stick for testing top fighters against. Thompson fulfilled a similar role a few years back, though Takam is an overall tougher task than Thompson ever way.

Of the top guys only Wilder hasn't got in with him yet.
